having had a day sorting through the hellhole that it called my garage, ive finally got round to sorting out my xbox's and the result is this! they are all either complete or missing the dvd drive, the stack actually has a further 4 more on each pile i couldnt fit in the pic! i have also sorted to chuck out another 17 empty black cases, and have box full of around 25 dvd drives, plus another box full of hdds and mobos (approx 30), plus about 50 spare psu's, and 2 huge boxes full of various a/v and power cables, not to mention about 4 boxes full of control pads so it literally it is the xbox graveyard, not sure why ive posted this really, its definatly nothing to boast about, but the pile looked quite impressive so here you go! an this isnt including the 6 xboxes around the house used as media centres, plus the plethora of controllers etc. scattered around the house!
WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA seeing that some people own like 40 xboxes and i can't get around to buy one destroys me
Thats awesome! I have 1 dead one with the Xmas lights error that only works for a little bit and shuts off, it'd be nice to ressurect it.
I think what you need is a good Parris. The Parris2007 fixes consoles in no time and can tell jokes while doing it too! Jokes aside, I think you should start fixing those things and selling them for some dough
they're actually mostly all working (bar from the odd few with bad solder jobs, lifted traces, xmas lights etc), i used to sell them as parts on ebay a while ago as theyre worth more in bits that a full unit on its own, then had to start dropping prices due to competition, just don't have the patience or time at the moment to sort through them all, test them, clean them, reformat the drives and relock them, test and clean / recalibrate the dvd drives etc. will do at some point though! in the mean time i could always uses them as house bricks to built a extension to the house!
if its modded check all the solder points etc, and also check the psu for loose connections on the powerplug input, if un modded, crack it open and use some compressed air on the fan and mobo, or use a clean soft paintbrush if there is excessive dust buildup, should do the trick!
wow thats alot sure beats my 2, a broken modded one (used in living room) and my stock one in my bedroom. using Xbox Media centre is the greatest non gaming software thing i liked about having my modded xbox set up when it was working, worked amazing for streaming music and videos and then pop in a xbox disc and some great gaming lol
well this is my new baby, currently hooked up to a 21" crt monitor via a x2vga (you can see just sitting on top), looks simply stunning for gaming on! not to mention outputting at 1080i on the crt screen!, and just to the left is a external 500gb hdd for streaming all my music and movies from all i need now is a halo2 or kasumi blue and ill be happy (or a jp smoke edition)
unfortunaly they are all uk 220/240v psu's i do have a couple of 110v ones but no way of testing them!
x2vga hooked upto a 21" crt and you say it looks stunning... your giving me ideas of using my 21" for my xbox
just make sure you switch the region to ntsc to enable hd output, and this is the result, not the best pic because of the backlight in my office, but you get the idea, burnout 3 running at 480p, soul cal looks amazing in 720p as does amped 2
looks not bad from the pic anyway and my monitor should be better than my tv that i use at moment. I beleive my montior has 2 vga inputs so it may well be a purchase within the next few months
well there a few options for vga output on the xbox, cheapest is see if you monitor supports sync on green, if it does and your soldering skills are ok you can cut up a cheap composite xbox cable and wire a vga plug onto it, then all you need is a custom vga bios and your done, i tried to make one unsuccesfully due to a health problem with my hands, but well worth it as will only cost a couple of £ (have a browse on the XS forums for SOG compatability and tutorials on how to build a cable), other options are a x2vga (around £30) or the new x2vga2 which converts any component source to vga (wii, ps2, gamecube etc) but they are quite costly, or see if you can get a vdigi vz-23 and the pic really doesnt do it justice as due to the nature of crt monitor refresh rates and crappy lighting!
