Hi. Bought an Xbox bundle earlier in the year and this is the machine that it came with. Has a Microsoft asset tag and the stickers on the bottom aren't present. Not sure if it is a retail machine that had the stickers removed for whatever reason with an asset tag or something a little more exciting. Anyway, here are the pics. Functionally the same as a retail machine, so it's probably just that. Cheers.
Not going to get a solid answer unfortunately. Could just be an Xbox that they kept around to play on. Check the save files to see if they actually used it. Other than that it'll remain a mystery.
It was probably used as a display unit in their lobby or whatever. Going by the manufacture date it's a bit past launch, so it was probably just for display, in a kiosk or something... pop it open, it's probably a 1.1 so the serial sticker can just peel up.
I'm quite happy leaving it unopened thanks. I had my fill with Xbox modification a decade ago - this machine is simply for playing Xbox titles.
Very likely just a retail unit. A black debug won't boot retail discs. If you want to verify, register the serial number on Xbox.com (I believe that still works). The warranty checker will identify development hardware.
Well, Halo 2 was one of the titles it came with anyway. The seller had no idea of the origin of the machine when I asked either.
