Xbox is still 2 million units behind Sony, but things are looking up. Here is a link http://www.foxbusiness.com/technology/2014/04/18/microsoft-xbox-one-sales-top-5m/?intcmp=tech_topics
Will take more Xbox One "only" games to get current 360 owners to make the jump, I have 2 Xbox Ones but still fire up the 360 every night.
What if MS had two models to offer. One with and one without the Kinect. They could hit the $399 price point and be on level ground with PS4. Do you think that would boost sales?
I'd buy one if Iit didn't come with the Kinect. I'd never use it or want it so paying for it is something I'm not wiling to do. They'd also have to release it in this country too.
Kinect is kind of cool, when I walk in the living room the TV says Hi John! I don't own any kinect games, but if I were to use Skype or something then it would be cool to have.. Another cool thing with the Xbox One connected to your cable box, you can program the Xbox One to the channels you define, therefor bypassing all the BS channels when flipping channels.
That's a misleading number imo From the article: "Microsoft said it would begin disclosing only the number of Xbox One units that were sold to retail partners." So these aren't Xboxes in customer hands, these are Xboxes in the customer hands + the Xboxes in stock in the stores. That being said, I do think those Xboxes will eventually sell, but counting the numbers before it reaches customers hands is kinda cheating.
I agree that I'd like to see a cheaper SKU that lacks the Kinect. I have no interest in it at all. I also don't have some giant living room setup. Many people don't which seems to be ignored. But even if it was cheaper, there aren't many games that are very interesting. And by that I mean there's just about nothing. The best selling game on XB1, Call of Duty... Followed by 2 more multi-platform titles, Titanfall and Battlefield 4. Then you have Forza 5 and Dead Rising 3. They are exclusive but hardly worth the high cost of ownership to me. After that is that Ryse game and then a bunch more multi-platform games. But it's still very early so this is pretty much expected.
5 million minus those sold. Perhaps 2-3 million sitting on a shelf. Sony is 7 million SOLD with probably 5 million on the shelf. It's misleading.
At this point, it doesn't really matter. Both PS4 and Xbox One have less than 6 months of retail life. Sales will only pick up when big games get released. This year's E3 announcements are important.
True, I think the XB1 and PS4 are both selling pretty healthy numbers, though if Nintendo doesn't get the Wii U turned around this year they'll be pretty much dead in the water (Mario Kart and Super Smash are just about the biggest system sellers they can move now). I don't mind the Kinect, it's useful for voice commands and the like. Though if Microsoft releases the rumored disc-drive less XB1 instead of one without the Kinect, they will pretty much screw themselves up.
All I care that I believe PS4 will overtake PS2 sales later in lifespan. I can't see how XBOXONE continue to sell well in the future that point. Considering second worst console, even worst than XBOX360. Opinion is a opinion
XBOX ONE is far, far too big. My friend got one recently and we couldn't set it up with Kinect. They planned and designed the console being the only unit connected to the TV :/
I always thought XBOXONE is pretty much crap and too big since day one. My friend finally got a PS4 instead and got rid the XBOXONE. I can't stand kinect stuff.
I will be very surprised if there's not a version without the bundled Kinect though. They pretty much shot themselves in the foot with Smash Bros by also releasing a 3DS version six months before the Wii U version. Speaking of 3DS, the release schedule these days is looking pretty damn sparse.
^ Good to know that you hate Microsoft and Xbox brand and so why are you commenting on this article again? Fanboy much? I dislike Playstation but it doesn't stop me from enjoying PS games. I own PS1, PS2, and PS3 and respect those who like it and Play PS games that are fun regardless of the platform. @ Assembler I agree with your assessment Both Sony and Microsoft both use SOLD to Retailer as part of their respected sales data. Tell me 5 million in 13 countries Vs 7 million in about 50 countries is not impressive. Then again Fanboys in all shapes and form never listen to reason smh. And I'll update my Collection thread with PS games just t spite fanboys especially PS Fanboys
