Games that support Play Anywhere will be listed on the official site and include a Play Anywhere icon in the online store. Here’s the existing list: Gears of War 4 Forza Horizon 3 ReCore Sea of Thieves Halo Wars 2 Scalebound Killer Instinct Season 3 State of Decay 2 Ark: Survival Evolved Cuphead We Happy Few Crackdown 3
One thing I didn't get it yet, the pc version will be just a port or will you be able to use higher settings/resolutions to match your pc hardware?
This is surely an unconventional move for the whole industry. I hope their strategy don't fail that much. But if it succeeds and that means games as a service like the new Office, than good bye Xbox I think. The ideal is that it succeeds together with a physical copy/retail reality. This is better than the clueless nintendo mobile push, though.
It's more of a game tied to your Xbox Live account. You can play it on your tv in the bedroom or on the TV in your living room or play it on the PC in the den. Then you can go to work and continue where you left off and also play it on the PC there. All this does is make the original goal more true. Play More.
Forza 6 Apex allows you to bump up settings. So I suppose these might be the same. The games are very well optimised though my 760GTX can run the game on high. That's not a bad thing at all. With all the BS this console gen, the future of consoles are likely to fade or die out completely. Companies are wanting to have 'upgradable' consoles so it's less engineering every generation. Which at the end of it, they're just PC like hardware anyway if they're going to be like that. Already we've got games without manuals, discs being install discs, or discs with very little data and the rest gets 'patched'. The only thing consoles have going for them is plug and play.
The "Upgraded" PS4 is just an upscale box for 4k TVs so it's not really an upgrade. If my current PS4 dies I'll get one but I'm good for now and I just got a shit tone of games that have manuals, Funnily enough they're all from Small publishers. I don't want the XBOX to go away. If Nintendo screws up with the NX, and the XBOX goes away we're stuck with a Sony Monopoly and with all the Sony Dick moves over the last 20 years a Sony Monopoly is a scary.
No. Not bad at all. Let's think. Look at this new Halo 365, where you pay a subscription to play it. Just like MS Word, you know, singleplayer and typing by yourself in Word is the same, so you need to login to use that! Now seven months later we don't have the 50,000 subscriptions needed to maintain the servers sadly. Let's shut it down and release Gears of War 365!! With those 50,000 plus more 20,000 (projected) subscriptions, we can do it!! The power of the cloud!! Yeah! The Future!! Want to play Halo 365 single player? Perhaps we will re-release it someday... maybe in two years... Well, our beloved consumers choosed this system in 2016 by fully supporting it. It must be right. We are doing it right, because smart consumers always choose right.
Yeah I hate to be the bastion of XBOX negativity (since it annoys some of the XBOX fanboys here whom shall remain nameless) but: http://www.dfcint.com/dossier/microsoft-pulls-a-wii-u-with-xbx1/ Also inline with this article from 2 years ago: http://metro.co.uk/2014/02/11/investors-call-for-microsoft-to-abandon-xbox-4299255/ (some articles say Bing and Surface too) Not to mention the Scorpio is pretty much just an XBOX One that plays these games at recommended PC Specs the writing is on the wall and you'd have to be a fanboy to deny it. ALL I'm gonna say is BRING ON THE NX and it BETTER be a beast.
I don't understand how more options is a bad thing. You people confuse me. Buy an xbox game, able to play it on pc too if it's in the program. Much like steam buying a pc game, you can play on Mac as well if it's compatible. It makes xbox a more attractive platform for devs - it works on xbox and pc (and I'd imagine the tools to make it easy will exist, as Microsoft have some experience in that field) with little/no extra work and they get all xbox players and pc gamers too. Or you get pc only devs that don't typically port to consoles able to get it on xbox easily... Making things easier for devs = more games. Making the target market bigger = more games from devs.
The way I see it they wouldn't be doing this if they weren't planing on phasing the console out all together.
See, to me it seems like they know they need to attract more devs/games (games/exclusives make a console). The PS4 has been outselling the xbox and MS need to do something to solve it. By doing this, they could possibly add PC only games to the xbox line up. But also make the xbox platform more attractive (will work on PCS too - larger market to target). I am not sure they are planning to phase out the xbox in favour of the PC..... people dont game on PC's for a number of reasons, killing xbox will just make people buy a PS5, not magically game on the PC instead. I see this as an extension of the 360 backwards compatibility and them using the leverage of visual studio to make it easy to write a game once and play on multiple platforms.
I don't know if it's still the case but investors wanted the XBOX either dead or sold off. With all these mixed messages on the XBOX end of things it seems to be coming to fruition. IF XBOX goes away I hope there's another company waiting to take Microsoft's place, Maybe Samsung? HP? Valve giving Steambox another go?
Well, it's not that at the very next shareholder meeting it will be shut down. You can buy your Xbox One and have fun with it. The Scorpio will be released and they have Mojang as signals of interest for the next years. I am worried about the future, the push towards a digital only generation. Not Xbox One or even Scorpio generation. You seem to want things immediately. It's a lot trouble to move something like 1/3 of the whole industry so fast.
