Thats true about the discs. Phillips just came out with a BluRay disc player, but if Sony is going to include that in the PS3, its possible to release it come spring. But heck, if where are the games? Big companies in the USA are already messing around with the kits, etc. I have a feeling that there will be a slow output of consoles if they manage to bring it out early summer, but much worse than the xbox 360.
It's a good thing i did too, because the original launch date was supposed to be the first week november, not the last. They bumped it back 2 weeks to make sure there would actually be games to play for the system. The first game to go gold was NBA 06 on the last week of October. Don't get me started on Kameo, suficed to say, they stamped that disc without going through microsoft certification first.
I don't get you people. If Sony hypes their products (like they usually do), you complain. Now they are quiet, not making any hypes for their new system (yet). And what you do? Complain. Anyways, i don't believe that it will get a Japan release before october. But that's just me.
Hehe. Couldn't have said it better myself. Gamers are never content with anything. Had the Xbox360 been delayed for another 6 months, you can bet that there'd be nothing but complaints. But because it launched early to get a jump on the competition (with a great library of games, no less) these same "gamers" are quick to jump on Microsoft's case whenever the opportunity arises. It's also these same "gamers" who remain convinced that the DC was the best system ever made, yet back when the console launched they probably passed on the system to save their pennies for a PS2. hehe. It never changes.
Cell yield isn't that big an issue, they have an extra core on die to decrease their losses to defects. Besides, cell seems like it's going to wind up in everything under the sun. 1. Alpha kits people have them, but where are the tools? Mediocre, better start coding your own. 2. Dev teams got theirs maybe at the most six months ago. Takes a year to push out something mediocre on ps3. So if we say people are getting their kits some three months ago, add on another nine before Japanese release. October or november 2006? Hmm. Even is microsoft completely screws up stateside, they might get advantage being the only new toy. Until ps3 comes out and makes it look like a saturn.
PS3 anytime before November? Ha! Then again, monkeys are scheduled to fly out of my ass this summer, so anything is believable. Revolution will be old news by the time PS3 makes it out the door.
I say early 2007 for japan, summer for the rest of the world. Even carmack says that the thing isn't finished yet.
