@contrafan I'm willing to give a look at it too if needed. I'm more on PS3 content but I'm not opposed to looking into 360 stuff.

To everyone who wanted to give it a go, I've PMed you. However, I'm not trying to hype this up, as I don't know whether it's even a build, whether it's missing necessary files, etc. I'm hoping something great does come of it, though.

Here's a screenshot of directories inside the file (since its an XBLA title).

Here's a screenshot from the XDK Dash
    xhueg-image1.png

The game has no name, but the XEX file in it claimed it was "Contra.exe" for one of the sections (no idea if it's contra). I have not managed to have it boot yet via the XDK Dash, but will try the normal dash and FSD soon. I also decided to modify the package a little to be set as "bought" and renamed the title to be "Contra.exe" just for the sake of doing so. Once it's transferred I'll see if it boots directly from the XDK Dash (and other dashes)

In the mean time, enjoy some info on the unedited package data (had to remove a couple lines to not get an error posting for having over 10,000 characters).

I too am picking through the build. I will be working on it for the next bit and let you all know what I can do to get it working.

I've uploaded the video named "opening" for anyone who wishes to see. (Very nice music with the into I might add)

Back on topic, I have not had success booting it. I can't say why as it doesn't give an error, it just returns back to the 360 XDK Dash. Booting via DVD didn't help either and now I have a new coaster (it's going in the shredder soon).

I've edited this since I'm jumping to conclusions. Still think it's neat that this video was in there.

Haven't gotten it to boot either. I tried rebuilding the xbla package and it errors when it tries to read the header so my guess is something is wrong xex-wise....

I had no luck using an RGH neirther XDK.
In XDK doesn't boot (it goes back to XDK Launcher), and if I try to 'unlock' it with XM360, the shows error 1392.

    After 'unlocking' it:

In RGH with FSD (updated dashboard kernel to last version) game doesn't boot, it remains in black screen. If I 'unlock' it with XM360, the RGH console reboots.

In FSD, it shows 'unknown game' name, but it displays the correct retail info:

After trying to boot it, the dash icon shows up:

Error 1392 is retail signed xex within the xbla content package. XM360 doesn't unlock xbla to work on xdk. You have to Un package, resign, repackage and unlock via xbox 360 command prompt. I tried and it refuses to run.

I find it strange how it won't boot, but it also wont give an error for why.

I also tried repacking again but again did nothing - not even as a dvd (which still behaved the same)

Always frustrating when you come across a build like this... But still very cool that some content could be salvaged :). I wouldn't mind giving it a shot myself. Probably not as versed as some but I have a few tricks I could try. Thanks for letting people look at it.

No problem, glad to bring these out there. Especially if they can be gotten to work somehow. It's crazy that this thing is giving so much trouble to play; hopefully there will be a breakthrough.

I know of one person that could look at it but I dont know if they're up on the 360 stuff.

I'll PM them and see if they have an answer.

Setup kernel debugger? Post output so we can dig through it?
IDK I would do it myself but my XDK is running really slow, Like dropping frames in arcade games slow and IDK why.
Granted I haven't done anything to try and fix it but yea.
