The way that I saw the code operate in some forums, it's undetectable mostly - unless live verifies the checksum of the firmware or something

EDIT: I haven't got a 360 , nor do I have to money at the moment to buy one - let alone try to experiment with it. :icon_bigg

Unless someone figure out a way to crack media protection on stuff run over the hdd, this will do almost nothing for piracy.

Only real way to pirate 360 games atm is the complex dvd drive hack.

It's actually trivially easy to block with a single update. The only reason MS hasn't so far is because doing the hack is quite complex at the moment and it hasn't opened up the floodgates for piracy. Were there an easy solution to performing the hack you'd see a Live update immediately. ;)

As for piracy, it is theft of intellectual property. If you can't be arsed to pay for it, then you shouldn't be using it. If you are pirating software at least have the stones to admit it and don't try to pussyfoot around the issue by claiming you're "not really" stealing. The first you can respect the stance, even if you don't agree with the morals. The second case you can't even respect.

Actually, I think it adds defense to the horse or something.

The PC version of the Horse Armor is $4.99, BTW.

I don't see why anyone would even want to pirate Xbox 360 games. In my opinion there's next to nothing worth a DVD-R anyway. I'd be interested in seeing someone getting homebrew started on Xbox 360. I certainly enjoy my original Xbox with all the emulators and media player on it. It's kind of sad though that I have a system which I've rarely played an actual game for it on. Oh well.

All I care about is homebrew, it's one hell of a powerful box sold for a loss, for $399 you can
have one hell of a linux box!!

Of course, much like the orignal Xbox, as soon as it is finally hacked enough to allow for Linux, there will be cheap PCs from the likes of Dell that can run Linux faster and don't cost as much. ;)

I was thinking more a long the lines of world class emulators. Finally full speed SS.

Hopefully this will be public (and easy) shortly. I love downloading games, it's the best way to test if they are worth buying or not. Illegal, yes, but it far better than trying to rent them or reading reviews that are so bias/fanboy driven they make little sense.

People go on about piracy all the time in this forum, but they fail to realise that it's already accounted for by developers, distributers and sales outlets. We pay the price for piracy, and do you really think they'd reduce the cost to the consumer if there was none? Would they hell.

XMBC 360 can't wait! It was the reason why I bought the original Xbox (DivX players were more expensive back then). It would be good to see better MAME support. Until Dead Rising or possibly Enchant Arm my Xbox will still be the best all round console.

The 360 being a unique beast that it is, on what abstraction layer would linux or the emulators hope to "sit" on? Or does anyone outside the licensed developers know how to code this thing properly? (Without using official libraries/manuals/guides)

EDIT: regarding piracy, whatever your personal views, it would be wise for all of us in the forums to keep a politically correct stance, despite of what one might believe down inside about the merits of the subject. This way we can all stay "clean" and no blame-games from either side can rise ;-)

  11. i recall one of the dev groups investigating xbl downloads already and stuff being keyed to specific consoles, so prolly not

I believe (but could be mistaken) that they exploited built in debug routines to accomplish the hack using built in operations that could peek and poke at drive addresses, whats to say ms cant have their hardware do the same thing to validate?
