    Wired install is the way to go for these chips, it's just too easy to bridge pads underneath the chip. In case you're going to swap the drive out...

    You can use the screw on the gc drive to hold the modchip down.

    Your commitment to different colored wires if commendable. I just use one reel.

    Doesn't only look like it, but it is. It's the only wire I had available in a suitable thickness. I usually prefer 20AWG for wiring jobs, but that's too thick for this kind of job.

    I've never had an issue with installing them directly on the motherboard...*knocks on wood

    I've only ever done three installs, all without wires and back when I had no idea about soldering
