Kevtris has some pretty detailed info on the Famicombox here:

    http://www.tripoint.org/kevtris/mappers/famicombox/

As for the games, the Famicombox won't play normal Famicom (won't fit) or NES (don't have the auth chip) game and the Famicombox games won't play in a normal Famicom (won't fit) but they should play in a US NES just fine (it'll ignore the auth chip).

Yes the CIC is different from a UC/EU CIC but regardless CIC are irrelevant to playing a game. The games won't work on a normal Famicom/NES. For one look at the memory map, it's quite different from a standard FC. Two, The FamicomBox also contains 8k of RAM instead of the standard 2k on retail systems. Three, what will the games do when they read open bus from non-existant registers on a standard NES? Four, the PPU appears to be mapped in CPU space somehow.

It copies from one connector to the other (so a legit and blank cartridge are required.) The blank cartridges are simply NROM (the most basic type of FC cartridge) with their ROMs replaced with EPROM. The EPROM's quartz windows are exposed through holes in the cartridge so that one may erase the game with a UV eraser. This archaic way to copy games became pretty much useless when pretty nearly every FC developer started using bankswitching in 1986/7.

Do not I repeat do not bid on the the two Seaman Dreamcast that keep reappearing on Yahoo, the guy is a conman check his feedback.
I won a L e black Dreamcast from him, he sent the box alright with a normal dreamcast inside with no packaging.
His feedback is terrible something I forgot to check when bidding this is why no one in Japan will bid on his stuff!

Thanks for the info neozeed. Yes, it's always best to be careful around Yahoo sellers with negative feedbacks. Most of them have 100% perfect records so if you do see a neg' it's worth looking in to why it's there. I have 5 by my name. 4 from wankers pulling out of deals after they said they would pay for something if I bought it for them and another because the idiot said the item was sealed but after I won the auction he said that his kid had opened it. So I told him I didn't want it and the shit gave me a neg' feedback !!

I would just repeat what Yakumo said and always check feedback.
Next time I go to Japan I feel like paying him a visit!!

I forgot to mention there is another seller on Yahoo Japan (I cannot remember his name I will find out) he sells sealed Sega Saturn games and some very rare ones at that.
He also has bad feedback and a habit of ripping people off.
Yakumo I have seen some sellers with over 70 negative feedback why do they not get kicked off?

Because Yahoo Auctions are just like Ebay or worse, they squeeze you for every penny ! You know that you have to pay to bloody buy from Yahoo? Every month there's a charge of about 260 yen.

wow, that is over priced but then again it never got released in Japan so I guess it's just like us paying loads of cash for Japanese games that never came out in Europe. Still, that is one shitty game.
