Almost anything gets listed as "junk" if the game/system is untested like in this case. Same as the "as is" addition on ebay listings.

If that's the case, the word you guys are considering as "junk" must have another meaning for the japanese.

Japanese talking people could clarify that. =)

I wrote a post about this but it vanished.

JUNK in Japanese basically means that the item has not been tested. Either because the seller doesn't own the right equipment to test the selling item or they can't test it. 90% of the time the items marked as junk are perfectly fine.

I think that used to be the case, but now I'd say about 70-80% of the "JUNK" items work fine. That's to say that before it was a slam dunk, but now I'm a bit more cautious about reading the descriptions and checking out the Seller before buying. One thing I'm really cautious about are the Sellers who list the item as "JUNK" with a high price. I think some Sellers have caught on to the fact that a lot of other Sellers list items as JUNK without testing and they know people will buy them and assume it works. So the bad Sellers are listing items they know to be junk at a high price hoping that people will read between the lines incorrectly....

Well it went for 100,001 Yen in the end so it's quite rare... It's definately in the top 5 of rare megadrive games that were commercially released.

complete noob question here but ive been looking back through these pages and you guys have dug up some interesting finds on the yahoo japan auctions site, just wondered how you guys find them. I know some of you understand the language but for most how would you go about finding these items? I understand there was an english version but has since been closed down.

Im quite interested in a 64dd but in the new year when this christmas/new year period is over, but havent seen many about for sale recently

Edit - just seen theres a pretty complete ps2 dev bundle for sale

    less than 100 euros :)
But there are a lot of problems with the set... external hdd doesn't power, the cd drive does not open, there is a part missing from the front panel, no video output, ...

C-rocks: I search in japanese, it's as easy as that... try to find the translation of what your are looking, and save your search in your favorites...

It's just a safety "education" cart. not a game as such,. Only a true nut case or a hard core collector (is there a difference  ) would pay at least 300'000 yen! According to the auction description it says that many believed this "game" didn't exist and that the only time it was mentioned was in a news paper article in 1988.

In the text the seller says get in touch to make offers, and if so, the starting offer must be 300k yen minimum.

Even more nuts! Think about it, you could buy that pretty much usless cart or a very nice car. Hmm, I love my games but 3 million yen is a lot of money for anyone on this forum to put forward.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but you answered your own question! That's actually a Sord M5, it was released in the UK by Computer Games Limited (CGL). I have a CGL M5. And a Commodore Plus/4 :D

Or several of the motorbikes in the picture, complete with Japanese girls in hot pants!
