There's a Price drop, a few games I'm interested in and IF the Cave shooters make backwards compatibility It seems worth it but is it? I've been talking to a lot of XBOX fanboys who would say it is. BUT I still have some reservations. Is the UI as convoluted as it appears to be? Is Halo 5 any good? How about the other exclusives? I hear mixed things about Quantum Break. Sunset Overdrive looks amazing, KI looks amazing. Ori I keep hearing nothing but good things about and there's rare replay but what about the other exclusives? As a Media player how does it stack up as that will probably be it's main use as a box to watch You Tube, Netflix and the WWE Network on. Is the Elite controller worth it? Pros/Cons of XBONE ownership?
If you're still calling it an XBONE, I'm guessing you're not ready yet. And you seem to be calling people who own an Xbox, as Xbox fanboys so seems odd for any of your questions on this forum. Also E3 is in 2 weeks.
I had a classic Xbox when it came out, modded it, was very happy with it. Then moved on to the Xbox 360, jtagged it, was very happy with it. Then I bought a Xbox One, the games run very slow, to a point where I doubted that the Xbone is even more powerful than the old 360. After a month my controller's thumbstick broke, it was a common problem back then. Finally, as a Halo fan, I bought the Master Chief Collection. A game that over a year after it's release still doesn't work right and is plagued by bugs. So I sold my Xbox One again. I don't know what they were thinking but the existence of the elite controller and the fact that only 3 years after it's release there is talk about an improved and faster version totally aligns with my past experience. Personally I would wait for the face lift version. I suspect that they will incorporate some of the elite controller's features and build quality into the standard controller, they did the same with the fixed dpad version of the Xbox 360 controller. At first it was a very expensive special controller then some time later all controller got the dpad upgrade. If this post might sound a little too negative please be aware that I was talking about a roughly $500 console, and for that amount of money I just have certain expectations which were not fulfilled. But nowadays you can get Xbox Ones for around $200 and there are some cheap games too. So with that in mind I would say try it out, worst case scenario you have to sell it again and lose a couple of bucks.
Wait for the 2017 version. You're missing out on some great stuff (Sunset Overdrive, Killer Instinct, Quantum Break maybe, Raiden V (I take back my previous comments; the trick is that you HAVE to use the plasma catcher weapon for it to be fun)) for now, but quite frankly there isn't much on the Xbox One that you can't get on the PS4. I like the Xbox One exclusives more, mind you, but if I already had a PS4 I'd hold off for the next-step-up version. In the meantime get a real gaming console to tie you over (the Wii U).
Do you know who Wrath, Iron wolf and Kali Dascope are? They're the ones I've been talking to. They're more than a little biased, good people, just a bit biased. Assuming there is a 2017 step up version. Given the sources on this Scorpio I'm thinking not. I am waiting for a slim since space is at a premium in my set up. There is an FCC Filing for a new XBOX so we'll see what that's all about. From what I could tell power isn't the XBOX One's problem, It's Japanese support. I want hte Master Chief Collection to play Halo 1 again but I guess the 360 remake might be more than enough. All signs seem to point to sticking with my PS4 and building my emulation box and see what the NX has instore. Plus this all hinges on how much Sunset Overdrive and Gravity rush are alike too. I just picked up Gravity Rush Remastered.
I assume a step up version is coming. If it's in 2018, at the rate new exclusives are coming out for the Xbox One, you still probably won't be too far behind if you wait for it.
Phil Spencer did say something about not wanting to do a step up but a whole new Console. So I guess wait and see is the way to go here. I guess a step up console might make some sense if there is going to be some kind of partnership with the Rift.
In my opinion its a great media player, in fact i use it as my main media player. As for the ui think xbmc or kodi it not great but it works fine. I love using the smartglass app to navigate and type text from my couch because i always have my phone in my pocket (no lost remote). Game wise there are some gems but it depends on taste and opinion. I got mine used for $200 with 1tb so i feel like it is a good system for that price. Just try it out and see if it fits you, that's all you can really do.
Are any of those 3 here on AG? I've never heard of them, no need to bring their immature console-war smack-talk here, we love all consoles equally and we don't judge other's because of the console(s) they prefer.
You Tubers, good people, Wrath is the most rabid of the three the other two are hardcore gamers that just really like XBOX while I value their opinion they're a bit biased, Wolf is overhyping Scalebound quite a bit.
It never hurts to wait, delayed gratification will help you in the long run in this case. Once the newer version of XBOX One is released, games should also be dropping in price. Win-win!
True, right now KI and Sunset Overdrive are the only NEED on my list. The Rare replay games I can get in other forms elsewhere. If Gravity Rush is anything like Sunset Overdrive, I may just wait a while.
I'm waiting for the Slim model. which I assume is what this is referring to http://www.ign.com/articles/2016/04/13/fcc-filing-reveals-sparks-new-xbox-hardware-speculation Funny there isn't any new FCC Filings from Sony in my digging, so much for the Neo that everyone is swearing up and down about.
The thing is pretty massive and in my set up space is at a premium, If I'm getting an Original XBOX to replace my dead one, that's already a lot of space used up. and XBONE as it is would take up even more room.
You know, the weird thing is that, with Sunset Overdrive, to get the most out of the game you pretty much had to have it around launch, because otherwise you missed out on the Sunset TV extras (some might say they weren't worth it; I always thought it was a cool concept though). SO is still a great game though. DLC is also totally worth it. No one plays online anymore though unfortunately.
Is there anything even remotely like Sunset Overdrive? I know it culled inspiration from a number of sources. I'm getting Gravity Rush Remastered in the mail today which from the little I've seen (kept my self in the dark on purpose) might come close.
