A game journalist friend of mine mentioned he had a yellow PS2. Specifically this one: The one on the far right (obviously). It's a PAL version, and supposedly they only made about 1,000 of them. I was just wondering how rare a variant this was? Or if it's valuable at all at this point.
These are the car color edition PS2's. They are quite valuable (around 500 Euros in mint/new condition if that's still up to date) and they are changing hands less and less often. They look pretty damn fancy because it's actual shiny high-quality car color they used on them.
yes, every color was limited to 666 consoles. EDIT: http://cgi.ebay.com/RARE-666-PCS-SO...242?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item336a3a912a the color is very sexy indeed
OMG! They're Stan's PS2's! But man, I'd love a red PS2. Are there any other versions of the PS2 that are red?
Remember... just because someone's listed one on eBay for $999 doesn't mean it's worth $999. As my father once said, "something's only worth what someone else is willing to pay for it at the time, not what you want for it."
The most I have ever seen one sell for was $700 for a mint boxed red one. They are uncommon but if you search they can be found. I personally have a red and yellow one, but have have a silver and blue before. The stands are the hardest to find with the system.
Ah if only we'd met sooner lol!! I had 4 of 5 (excl the Blue one) until about 3 months ago. Sold the red one for £550 GBP (new & boxed), yellow for £250 (no box). I still have a few non- European Automobile coloureds for sale:- Zen Black Ocean Blue Sakura Pink Silver Prestige Feel free to PM if you're interested.
My friend does have the stand that came with it. Not sure if he has the box though. And yeah, the Silver Prestige system looks great.
I got one, and I dont think it is car polish. They are shiny, yes - but they are not like cars - more like colored plastic. Just FYI.
Well, if I were to start a European gaming collection, these would be towards the tops of my list
I won one on ebay for around $150, the yellow one. Far as I remember it was complete minus the box. Unfortunately, the asshole seller didnt wanna sell it to me because he wanted at least $900... I tried explaining to him that a yellow unboxed one would never be sold for that much (as I lost a red one on ebay for $160, forgot to do a last minute bid, now I just put my highest bid right away, dont miss out) he didnt reply...
Did you get your money back? If not then either get him to refund it, get paypal to refund it, or find a way to get him to send it to you. Or did you even send him your money? Either way, dick move on his part. Makes him sound like a greedy asshole.
I hate when ebay's sellers pull that kind of crap. If you put something on auction and the winning bid is not nearly as much as what you wanted, tough luck, you should have put the starting bid higher or put a reserve on it (I hate reserve). It happenned to me a few years ago except I was the seller. I was selling a nes prototype and a snes prototype. They were sold for peanuts. The nes one was sold for less than 80$ while it was bought for like 300$ 5 or 6 years before and the snes one sold for like 45 (didn't care as much). I was annoyed and for a minute I caught myself thinking of not sending it but then I thought about how shitty it is and that someone was all excited to have had a good deal on it and had full right to get it at that price. You know what? I did the right thing and send the item prompto like I was supposed to. 250$ less rich but 100% more karma and I'm damn glad I did. As for those colored PS2, weren't they released near the end of the fat PS2 era shortly before they were replaced completely by slim ps2? I remember seeing them in ads and paper.
