I thought for a minute the thread was about SNES consoles that went yellow over the years. ;)

    Dude, that colour looks great!

What are you using to paint it? (Paint, obviously. I mean what kind and how)

By the looks, it seems you didn't disassemble it. Is this safe?

...or even in the shade. From what I know, the SNES is made of some cheap plastic that will turn yellow no matter how you treat it :)

ive noticed that for u.s. snes's they will either tint entirely yellow or just one half changes color....sometimes its the top and sometimes its the bottom.

Yeah, although the yellowing on European SNES systems can get pretty bad, it's nowhere as absymal as the US versions tend to get. But apparently to balance the karma, we didn't get the mini SNES :angry

I've got about six US SNES, and I've never had a yellowing problem. I do have a Dreamcast that's turned an odd color though...it's not quite as white as the other ones.

Anyone ever tried to take apart a Super Famicom? WTF kind of screwdriver does that require?

a molten plastic pen... and a lot of burnt fingers ;-)

  15. I think it's Nintendo's horrid GameBit screwdriver - you can often find the bits on eBay for something around $9 shipped. Just make sure to order the LARGER of the two size (can't remember the exact measurement) as that will open Nintendo systems (barring the Gameboy, which has those stupid tri-wing screws) as well as Sega Genesis carts. The smaller of the two Gamebit sizes opens Nintendo carts, which can be very helpful if you're into deep-cleaning new aquisitions.

  18. 4.55/4.5mm (can't remember) is the larger of the two, and will open Nintendo consoles (SNES, N64, and Gamecube) and Genesis/Megadrive games. I can't remember if it's the 4.55mm or the smaller 3.8mm that opens the TurboGrafx/PCE consoles, but it is one of the Gamebit sizes. The smaller one (3.8mm) will open Nintendo games - later NES games (after they stopped using Phillips screw), SNES, N64, and GB/GBC (but not GBA games). That guy on the website has no clue what he's talking about though - NES and Dreamcast use the standard Phillips screws, and I believe (but am not 100%) that the Genesis/Megadrive does too.

Right you are. For PAL versions, at least.
