every sega console can be opened with the same old star screw rider. can't confirm for the Nomad, and every other Genesis\Cd \whatever hybrid, sinc i never opened them and\or owned them and\or saw them with my own beautiful eyes. (wha..? ) but i don't think they would change the formula. Anyway, Sega\nintendo game toolbit are maybe a bit expansive (for what they are), but they're very useful for every projects from modding to cleaning and things involving eproms\eeproms
Except for carts made after the late 80's, I don't think there's any Sega products that don't use plain old Phillips screws. And the PAL NES is Phillips too (incl. everything inside) - carts are all stupid gamebit crap as far as I can see unless earlier ones where different. Dunno about the original Game Boy, though I'm sure all the GB carts are gamebit too (my friend has a Tetris cart that PRE-DATES TIME). What about FC carts? IIRC other companies (like Konami, Namco, etc.) made their own carts so I assume they vary a lot though. I haven't seen a Famicom cart since 1993 and being in Saudi at the time it was most certainly bootlegged.
Almost all FC carts use 4 plastic tabs that snap together tightly. Some use screws (Just Breed uses Gamebit screws) but I reckon not many. FC cartridges CAN be opened without cracking the plastic, but it is quite difficult...
Yeah, it was a colorscheme based upon bright red (ketchup) and yellow (mustard). Such was Ye Olde' Windows 3.1, full of nauseating colorschemes
