What was your biggest video game disappointment for 2016? For me it was Metroid anniversary. Instead of getting a proper Metroid game (like a new 2D Metroid game everyone asks for but Nintendo cancelled twice) we got a lame spin-off nobody asked for that looks more like a F2P smartphone FPS. At least we got the awesome fan-made remake for Metroid 2 which have been complete before Nintendo decided to shut it down.
Carmageddon: Max Damage, I bought this game thinking I could play it online with friends in it's full glory, only to find out when playing online there are no peds only an empty map :/.
I was expecting some new titles for Xbox One that ended up being a bit of a disappointment: Mirror 's Edge Catalyst, ReCore and Quantum Break.
Game struggles to sync players as it is. Unlike other games like GTA which spawns peds when they need them, CMD actually has peds permanently spawned. Pretty sure if there was actual servers, there'd be more people playing and syncing likely not an issue. When you rely on P2P, issues arise all the time. Considering how long it took for the game to release, bit more content would've been good. PUPs were lacking it's all the same thing just renamed. rays, rays rays. Game is still fun and everything but could've had more to it.
Quantum Break Was so hyped up for this. It turned out to be a let down. Entertainment enough but nothing amazing. Alan Wake was so much better.
No Man's Sky is FINALLY decent with the new update. Still, I would call NMS the biggest disappointment. I've also heard mixed things about Mafia III. I'm loving FFXV so far. Very pleased with it. Along with DOOM, it's been a good year for me regarding video games.
XBOX One That brand is DEAD. No games worth playing anything that IS worth playing can be obtained on PC. I was thinking of getting one but why bother? I'll play Killer Instinct and Cuphead on the gaming laptop I'm getting. Remember when XBOX felt like a Sega console and had unique games and CREATIVE GAMES? Where did that XBOX go?
Call of Duty - Infinite Warfare was by far the worst game I bought in 2016. It was crazy expensive including the remastered CoD and nobody liked it so it was a huge waste of money. Especially since we all kept playing BO3. Yeah I know I should be a shamed of myself, but I actually enjoy playing CoD with my friends online. It's one of the only games I can get a large friends group to play, so I adapted to it as traditionally I am not big on shooters. Second place for No Man's Sky, while I actually kinda enjoyed playing it initially, the enjoyment dried up quickly when the game fell in repetition. This game was way to expensive for what it was, at half price I would of maybe not complained.
