I love my Dreamcast because of their innovative console. I mean really.. The GD ROMs, VMUs and all Dreamcast's came with a modem attachment for web browsing and online play. AND you can switch it out for a broadband adapter.
Another thing is they had some pretty cool canceled hardware/accessories. The Zip drive, VMU/MP3 and DVD drive. Some sweet released accessories like the microphone, digital camera and the karaoke add on .
The controllers could have been a bit better(with two analogue sticks). And the console could be a bit more quiet... And of course more 3rd party support.
    Wow... that was horribly written.

The Saturn was amazing to me; my first 3D console, but it never truly excelled for me, as much as I lvoed it at the time! But my god, the N64.. so many Class A games. I will always remember the first time I walked onto Hyrule Field.. the expanse.. never felt that before in a game. Couldn't believe that the game had basically only just BEGUN after the first three stones!

The Dreamcast represented so much hope and wonder for me. It really reeks of effort, and I love the variety of titles! The original Xbox was a wonderful console. Halo, of course, blew me away.

I had a PS2. All the menus felt clunky; the save systems were ghastly compared to Cube and Xbox games (manual loading and saving etc etc, slow saving and loading times..) and the graphics were uninspiring and fuzzy. The controller has never been much cop for me, and so few games I was interested in. Took it to my Uncles to watch a DVD- treated it like GLASS- got back, sounded like a lawnmower and wouldn't read discs.

The Dreamcast was definitely ahead of its time.
But sadly SEGA has made too many bad marketing decisions.

I love my Dreamcast, but my favorite console is the PS1 because I have so many memories tied to it.

My favourite console has to be the Sega Saturn because it has Nights, Panzer Dragoon Saga, Virtua Fighter 2 and Daytona and my least favourite has to be the Dreamcast because it has alot of technical issues that i have experienced personally although the console has Shenmu and Virtua Fighter 3 and i do love those games so thats quite a tough one.

All consoles I have owned have had a special place in my heart I guess, some more, some less, but never have I not found a game or many that I enjoy on any major platform.

Those who know my habits will probably have guessed that the N64 takes the cake, followed closely by my other nintendo consoles, and in parallel structure i stack the quality entertainment offered by the PlayStation line of products and the XBOX 360 (Some XBOX games too,but never owned one when it was relevant, I own a couple of xbox 1 consoles now). I ll go as far as to say I enjoy the PC for various reasons.

It's all good in my book =)

At the moment my favorite seems to be the Wii for several reasons:
    - Ability to put my games on the hard drive
    - Nice virtual console/wii ware library
    - New Super Mario Bros game is still a lot of fun.

I find myself spending most of my time with the handhelds (PSP, GBA SP+, and NDS) due to the portability/convenience factor.

I've never ever heard more asinine opinions regarding the PS/PS2 and MD. All three were amongst the best ever. It's your problem that you didn't find anything of interest among thousands of titles. The Saturn and N64 had very limited libraries but they had their merits. I had high hopes for the 3DO at one point but Trip Hawkins never managed to pull through.

Its not that we couldn't find ANYTHING there were gems on the PS2 no doubt. GTA God Of War Bully etc... Its just you had to SWIM in a dumpster of shit games to pull out a semi mediocre game. Good games were a rarity as it was FLOODED with shit ports, (half life anyone?) Movie games and just shit in general games.

Yeah, so much bollocks. The hardware was naff and uninspiring and I had a better time with the Cube/Xbox. Not sayng that people are not allowed to like them.. but they arent my favourites.

I aim to have every game I've ever enjoyed.. I have 2 or 3 PS1 games and 4 PS2 games. It never made me feel special!

I made an excel sheet with all PS2 games scoring 80 metascore and over and the list is quite large. I think I finished over 50 titles over the past 7-8 years. Granted I won't replay most of them ever again but the system was worth every penny and then some. My major gripe (beside the fact it killed off the Dreamcast) has always been its dirty, interlaced video out.

Congratulations, I'm pleased for you dude, and sure, theres loads of games with good reviews. But as a system, it doesn't interest me. We have one, a slim one, mainly for Singstar and Buzz. I have Wipeout Fusion, Rez, Amplitude and Frequency. And.. I have no urge to explore what it has to offer..

    Top 5 Favorites:
    1. Nintendo NES - Greatest system ever with a wide selection of games and a controller that works just perfect.
    2. ColecoVision - I love pretty much everything about this system. For it's time the games were great and I enjoy the controller actually. It's a shame the Adam failing and the video game crash killed it.
    3. SEGA Dreamcast - So many amazing games on this system. It's really hard to find a bad game. Even the sports games were decent for what they were. Just wish I got one sooner it got killed off about 3 months after I bought mine.
    4. Atari 2600 - Considering this is my largest game collection it has to be on this list. A bunch of fun small games for anyone to enjoy and not to mention being innovative in the industry.
    5. SEGA Saturn - At the bottom for now, mainly because I don't have many games for it, but everything I've played for it has been amazing. It really is a great system.

    Top 5 Worst:
    1. SEGA CD - I don't know if it's my luck or what, but I have never been able to keep a SEGA CD system working longer than a few months. My X'eye works great though for the few good games the CD has to offer.
    2. SEGA 32X - so far the only good game I've played is Knuckles Chaotix. Anyone have any other good ones? =P
    3. 3DO - Another system that may have had potential, but let down by a poor selection of games and could have had a better controller.
    4. Jaguar - Probably worst selection of games ever.
    5. Jaguar CD - Just like the Jag, but with mass hardware failure.

    Honorable mention
Atari 5200 - Decent system with good games, but the controller was pretty flawed.
PS1 - I hated the system initially due to hardware trouble, but now enjoy many games on it.

Favorite is PS1 just because i got one early on in its life after wanting ones for ages and it never disappointed me, also i played it like every day when i was a kid in between the times i was playing football or whatever outside with friends.

Least favorite has to be the original Xbox, its a good system and it is actually really good when modded and using XBMC. I remember getting mine for Xmas 03 and loving it when i first played it and did for many years after that but somehow its never left that big an impression on me unlike the PS1/PS2

The one i'm undecided about is the Saturn, back when it was out i mostly played my PS1 and occasionally played multiplayer 007 on a friends N64 so i never really took notice of the Saturn and it really just passed me by but i have one now and once i get a few more games i'll decide if i like it or not.

Super Famicom blew the shit out of me when i first imported it near 1991.
I mean, L/R buttons, F-Zero, Akumajou Dracula, SMB 4, Pilotwings... Still really enjoyable to play and almost unbreakable system.

Then i'll probably go for imported SegaSaturn.

I'm a helpless SEGA fanboy. I would have to put the Dreamcast up near the top for how innovative it was. I was introduced to the world of gaming by the NES, but it really blew up with the Genesis. I didn't get into the SNES until very late in it's life and didn't get to enjoy it as most did. So all SEGA units near the top. I even have the full "mushroom tank" setup for the Genesis (Lunar RAWKS, and my wife can't stop playing Popful Mail). My CURRENT favorite is the PSP (if you can count that), but all I really do is play my PS1 favorites and a FEW PSP games. I used to love Nintendo, but the overflow of crap on the DS and the Wii kinda killed it. Very few games make them worth the while. If you get a PS3, get a 60 Gig-er. I know there's a lot of PS2 hate going around, but some of the games really make it worth it.

If the PS3 still had PS2 emulation, I would have been a lot more tempted by it when I was choosing 360 or PS3..

    Favourites: N64 or Intellivision

Dislike: GBA (original one, where the screen was too dark to see anything)

    Faves -

Wondermega - Megadrive and Mega CD in one with some nice sound output. The Megadrive and Mega CD did have some cracking games (Sonic CD, Popfulmail, Urusei Yatsura, Thunderforce IV, Sonic the Hedgehog, Virtua Racing)
Famicom - Has a lot of classic games by lots of companies, find that buying titles is quite fun. (Super Mario Bros, Excitebike, Ice Climber, Highway Star, Star Soldier)
Playstation 3 (Original old model with hardware backwards compatability) - Allowed me to play the vast majority of my PS collection on one console and gave me the biggest number of games to choose from then any other system.
Gameboy Color - For being the best halfway house of all the GB systems, had a decent screen, was backwards compatable with the GB and had a great software library.
Vectrex - If there was a system you would buy a game for it would be this with Minestorm, everything that Asteroids Deluxe should have been. Also great conversions of Cinematronics titles including Rip Off and Starhawk.

    Disliked

Nintendo 64 - Only so much I can play games with the horrible vasolinevision(TM), there are a couple of good games but there is also a lot of trash and games better on other systems...
Dreamcast - There I said it.. Too much wasted potential, most of the must have games now available on other systems. Also had a horrible flalky drive that tended to go up in smoke.
Xbox 360 - Oh there are lots of good games on the system but I hate the enforced upgrade now and choose a stupid looking avatar for no good reason, I mean even the Wii doesn't force you to pick a Mii just to use the system. The machine is also the worse built system ever and as flaky as hell.
NES - Yes I know I have listed Famicom above but the NES had the horrible boxy shaped box, stupidly big carts, awful localisation and some awful US / European made games if I am being honest...
Gameboy Advance - From this point in, every Gameboy console would have some flaw to make it horrible. Dodgy screen here, horrible dpad and lack of headphones on SP to lack of backward compatability on the Micro...

I mean there are systems like the Jaguar, CDi, etc but you know what you are getting. Get a Jaguar for Tempest 2000 and everything is good, just don't waste good money on anything else...
