Well i bet its not as bad as it can get but this one was a little frustrating. I went to the local used game store today the price tag looked like this: Great Its The Adventure of Link, Wait there is an Adventures of link? No no there isn't i was played like a fool thinking this was the original First Zelda game for the NES. I thought maybe the GBA classic NES series name was messed up or a pirated game. lol Well now i have Adventure of Link II for the GBA.. Bleh, first buying mistaking. Least it was only 5$ BTW this is the first game i bought in probably 3 years
The PAL Mega-CD unit I bought with a stack of games but never really got around to playing. Did alright on a trade for it recently though so no real complaints. Also the Atari Jaguar, waste of fucking space IMO. I'm usuallypretty cautious with my bigger purchases, so far I haven't had anything major. Probably the sketchiest, and the major exception to that rule, was sending off a couple of hundred quid to some random Taiwanese guy for A'Can gear, only to have his email address bounce my email the next day. It all turned out ok in the end, he was an honest bloke and sent everything as promised. Not doing anything like that again if I can avoid it though; trusting strangers on the internet with that kind of money is not wise.
Bought Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 of the collectors edition separately locally for 25 bucks only to find out I could have gotten the complete set which is Metal Gear Solid 1, 2, and 3 in the nice case for 19 shipped on eBay . . . :banghead:
Actually my worst was buying Shadow the hedgehog for PS2. :/ I also was really disappointed with Red Faction II
Lanyard headphones, I didn't even know those existed until I opened the package "what is this, why is the cable so short?"... I wish I had a smaller mp3 player, but tbh I like my mp3 player to be in my pocket instead of hanging around my neck.
Neo geo mahjongg controller for $1000... dreamcast on release day for $750 overnight from Japan... I had nothing but blue stinger and penpen for months....
I think someone was looking down on me from the gaming heavens. I bought Red Faction II (new mind you) and Red Faction 1 was in the box.
New? You mean, factory sealed (not shrinkwrapped by some gameshop)? And RF1 was in the box? Wtf I always thought RF 1 and 2 were both great games. 1 had this particular feeling of a totalitarian regime and you were the underdog who could shoot (almost) endless tunnels into walls RF 2 was great because of the intense fights and great graphics. I didn't regret buying either of them.
The 2 wireless controllers i bought for the original Xbox years ago. They never did work right even after i left them in their box for a few days whilst i charged up two sets of rechargeable batteries. A few of the buttons worked ok but some would work then not or work but not quite as it should, ditched them no long after purchase and got a couple of official corded controller S's which worked perfectly.
That's not a mistake... that's fucking awesome! I mean, yeah maybe not a real great investment, but it's awesome that you probably had it before anyone else in the US.
Nintendo wii. Played for at max 50 hours (time needed to finish zelda TP and a few time wasting wii sport).
I would agree with that statement about my Wii as well, I bought it when I think the price had come down to 225 . . . I don't remember for Zelda. Anyway it never got used after I lost interest in Zelda, never got around to beating it . . . then I had kids who now absolutely love watching my wife and I play various Mario games and the Wii sports games. We were about to get rid of it when we noticed that it would keep my son, who was 1 at the time, quiet for about 30 ~ 45 minutes at a time . . . Now its one of our evening activities before he goes to bed, my wife and I play various games that he watches. The funniest part is when we die in Mario, my son goes "Uh oh!!" -Disjaukifa
Besides dumb games like pokemon snap, I'll say a couple times when I payed full price for opened games just because it was the last one available and was either that or waiting weeks until new ones arrived. Indeed:-0
I've been mostly lucky so far, I can only think of a few minor occurances... One was preordering Doom III, which I also ended up pirating because it was faster. Ended up having finished it long before my order arrived. Didn't live up to my expectations, had they released a demo first I wouldn't have bought it at all. Another was buying Kirby's Air Ride. "Oh hey, a Kirby game, can't go wrong with those! No need to even read a review." Well, fuck. (Those two were major factors in me deciding to not buy new (as in newly-released) games any more, exceptions like Zelda notwithstanding.) Then there were an used XBOX whose DVD drive can only be opened with a paper clip (makes a decent media player though, XBMC wtf), and a GB Micro with a broken "L" button (you never notice how heavily those shoulder buttons get used until you're missing one).
I bought the Neo Flash Myth MD cart with the SD cartridge for like $230. It didn't prove to be any better than the 175$ I'd plopped down on a Double Pro Fighter. Only good thing was I was able to resell it and get all my money back. I still have the Double Pro Fighter around, but I think it is more useful since it covers two systems and works pretty well. Resident Evil 4 for Wii was a mistake. I hate the Wii controls. Bought a Game Doctor SF7 with broken floppy drive off a friend for cheap. Probably a mistake since I already had a good working GDSF7, plus the Double Pro Fighter, plus the PowerPak. I'm sure there are other things I bought that later I thought it wasn't such a great idea.
I never spent too much any anything i never really wanted, and anything spent good money on i enjoyed, some may say it was crazy. $1000+ for p2 and 2 game tekken, and rr. was playing bootleg usa games with a swap trick weeks before the Us launch. $700+ I enjoyed my japanese launch dreamcast way more, vrf3, sonic, and some release right after that. like penpen and bluestinger, 2 guns for house of the dead 2 $80 each and they dont work on usa systems grrr. $1000+ for the full mgd2 set (sram and dram) minus the neo geo i/o cart. fun while it lasted had it way before these newer option came out. sold everything for almost a 4th the cost....
I know that feeling. Just like my alt button on my phone. Now i spell out just about every number in my texts.
