Nah, probably just a debug rom like the OOT one that was dump, although the logo being gold is an odd touch, maybe it's to help distinguish demo/preview copies from internal builds, but that's just my idea.

You should get in contact with the guys from Hard4Games. They've been the biggest people in the Nintendo betas, prototypes, forgotten items and developmental stuff scene as of late. I don't know if they would be willing to buy it, that depends on how much you sell it for, but they would certainly be able to read it and play it as the do have a development GameCube system.

I'm not promoting my Youtube channel, simply suggesting they get H4G to dump it and analyze it. It isn't even mine, nor am i involved. Like i said, they've been big in the Nintendo Developmental content scene recently, so i was just suggesting they contact them. There's nothing in this thread to clean up, either. It's all decent advice until we can figure out if it's real or not. If it's such a big deal, get a mod to move it to the Nintendo Game Development thread or something.

Anyway, i'm gonna research other beta content and footage and screenshots and whatnot to see if i can find any potential dates for the prototype. I don't expect it to be too old judging by the nearly complete title screen.

 

No, he's trying to figure if it's real or not, and if so how much it's price is, which is why it's on the price check board.

 

bowser22, have you played the final game to be able to play a bit and notice what's different in yours? If not, I'd suggest watching a Youtube video of a playthrough of the first area of the game and compare with yours. No one probably will be able to identify how early it is just based on the titlescreen, even with its few differences.

Definitely get some more screenshots. I've never played Wind Waker, but look forward to knowing more about this regardless.

 

Seconding this. As someone who plays Wind Waker a ton I personally would notice something different if I played it.
I would offer to go through it to see if any changes exist, but that's 100% up to OP. It's a rare item, something people will slap down good money for.

As @Bad_Ad84 mentioned he's worked with private content before and is very respectable. He's also no stranger to the medium as well. If anyone is qualified it's him.

Good to know. It may be worth posting updates on your findings in another forum section lest someone get salty like Pstrick. Whatever you find, i look forward to it. Wind Waker is one of my favorite Zelda games and to finally find something concrete and playable of the beta or even potentially alpha is absolutely amazing. Good luck and take your time.

 

I don't believe anyone was 'salty'. Registering solely for this thread, with your first post being 'these guys are the greatest, send your stuff to them' is, kinda sketchy to be honest. I don't blame pstrick for his line of thought at all. Also, patronizing people by calling them salty isn't gonna make you any friends.

As for the being on topic, it's hard to put a certain value on an item like this. It depends on who wants it, how badly they want it, and how much money they have. Zelda having the wide recognition you could probably find someone willing to pay a few thousand for it. Obviously the easy way to do it is to auction it, and post the sale on the relevant forums for exposure. Otherwise, you could shoot for the stars while entertaining offers, though this will obviously take longer. Having it totally analyzed could be a double edged sword, if people find it's basically final they might not pay as much for it. If you find there's a bunch of differences, then the potential value could go up. There's also sort of an excitement to not fully knowing, as some people really enjoy hunting and finding the differences themselves.
I don't think it's fake, since you say you found it in an NR reader. If someone were to go through the effort of faking it and burning to the proper media and all that, they'd post the build up for sale by itself and make a big deal out of it. Also as noted that debug console looks legit. If people are in doubt maybe make a video showing yourself playing around with the debug and first level.

Post pictures of the disk and more information. There isn't enough here, and there is far too much content leftover in the retail Wind Waker. Extraordinary claims of prototypes should have extraordinary evidence.

I mucked around with trying to use rawdumper but wasn't sure if it worked with NR media. Tried some other things to no avail, I ended up contacting some well known guys who are going to look at it and with any luck dump it. I'm not interested in selling, I'm more interested in what content could be on it.
