Which Beta? Zelda 64 changed many times through development. I'm honestly most interested in the very early version, Zelda 64 for the 64DD. The one with Link's old design, the old enemies, the old towns, etc. I've seen a recent hack that's attempting to recreate it though. I'm also interested in the more OOT-type ones. Versions with Sheik's original blue eyed design and such. I want Wind Sage Fado like crazy. I doubt most the earliest versions would be very playable though, if at all.
Got a link to this hack or any information about it by any chance? I'm quite interested in this as well.
well there is tech demo no game is actully playing alpha with no c button item select beta with had c buttons and item select and promo beta which was a late 1997- early 1998 beta thats some information I got but ura zelda is out there nintendo mad used to have it but he died so who has it now
there is a couple things wrong with it on lake hylia octorocks don't appear the graveyard is smaller then it should be in z target in 1997 there wasn't a target icon navi just followed the enemy and I'm not sure if the ice temple was in beta and It had more screen shots in alpha in the room in the ice temple two GIANT stalfos appear not normal ones and there was manual jumping if you press a button link will jump the jump attack is sloppy the triforce wasn't obtainable in beta you weren't supposed to bomb the rocks leading to dodongo cavern or goron village or something and at the point once you are at death mountain you're supposed to have wood sword not master sword
I learned that in the beginning you are at your uncle's house in hyrule town market (much like a link to the past) and you need to see zelda then you go to ice temple forest temple wind temple dodongo cavern then fire temple Ganons castle not sure if thats in order but also at alpha the engine is highly based off of the super mario 64 engine and the C buttons were used as camera angle buttons the graphics were also basic by beta the c buttons were used as item buttons but in alpha there was only 2 items bombs and sword in beta there was 4 bow master sword biggron sword and bombs by the way a sword could be put as a c button item and when you are in the water link won't put away an item and also link always has his shield out such as in the original adventure of link and a link to the past I will show you some screen shots note that these are not my screenshots and they are from google images shield out no sword drawn wind temple this looks to be like inside lord jabu jabu and the jello like enemies are either zohls or gels ice temple dodongo cavern death mountain Ganon's alpha castle Ganon's beta castle this is an unknown room it could be a very early temple of time or a place in a dungeon or Link's uncle's house or it could be a little cave where you get a sword like in the origanal
Tale-of-Tales just released a whole bunch of their prototypes in an anniversary bundle. Would be cool if it started a trend! Of course a two person indie company is in a vastly different situation than Nintendo, but I really really like the pay-what-you-want idea. Makes the idea of bigger companies doing the same seem more plausible in my head, just maybe. Way more incentive, instantly! Ocarina of Time is a game that's touched so many people's lives, so why not give insight into how it came about? Just scoop up all the ROMs that still exist, throw them into a bundle, make it clear what people are buying, and that Nintendo is not going to give any technical support for crashes and whatnot. Some of the cash could even go to charity... then man, could you imagine how much goodwill that'd get them? They'd be a pioneer in preservation, and charitable. Get on it Nintendo. Edit: Unless there was some sort of licensed technology in the game files that would complicate things. Nothing's simple, but if there weren't many legal problems of that sort, maybe something like this could happen. Probably not. But a Nintendo Digital Museum with pay-what-you-want for an endless treasure trove of goodies would just be beyond cool.
well right now people who have the debug rom can enter some beta rooms you can enter them with adult or young link I have a video I found on youtube this video is not mine and I give full credit to the owner of this video of course this is only a small portion of hyrule market and in hyrule market there is one place you can go in and thats the starting uncles house and originally Saria was Aria she's nearly the same but before navi was in the game there was Aria and also Aria looks like Malon a little just less detailed and before the ocarina to warp to places a medalian was used to warp to places
