Are you sure that this modchip is really universal? I've installed in Saturn round buttons with 32 pin IC, but it don't runs the backup games. It only runs original CD-ROMs. What could be the problem? Follows attached the CDB Board. As I could see, it have not the 33MHz xtal.

Edit: It is, 100%. It's tested by a fellow member here (Druid II) that has all Saturn drive revisions.

Please check with Druid II if modchip was tested agaist the board in the picture attached(without 33MHz xtal). All models that I have here are Tectoy made(Brazillian Models).

I tested with oval buttons 64 pin IC and it worked. I had some problems with oval buttons 64 pin IC, but I think that problem was the flat cable, after some attempts the modchip worked. It was a fast test, but ASAP I will do a more extensive test.

*Edit* Misread things. Some Sanyo drives can replace the HQA-001A, not really the same.

I believe that the jump is not the root of problem because it runs perfectly original CD-ROMs. Do you still want test Modchip with SYO jumper?

Hmm, I'm at a loss here.

Compatibility shouldn't be the issue as the HQA-001A (JVC EXL-P608) wasn't a troublesome drive. I've tested the chip personally on alot of drives myself, but Druid has most (He has the HQA-001a). IIRC, the tec toy models are made from Japanese Saturns and the only thing changed, is a crystal so it outputs PAL60 (and the bios?).

Shane McRetro installed a phantom in a Japanese Skeleton Saturn that has the HQA-001A (All HQA's have missing XTALs) and it worked fine

Please see the PM again. There I say that I had a problem with 64 pins IC oval buttons. Tee problem was that console is reading CD-ROMs and don't reading CDRs. On the above post I say that this problem was solved. Now the problem is regarding 32 pins IC round buttons.

The problem is the same( boot CR-ROMs perfectly, but don't boot CDRs). I realized that with 32 pins round buttons, the pick up seach the SECUR RING at CD, so the Modchip is not sending fake data to console. All data sent by console is reaching the CDB. It's like the modchip is "sleeping" and all request sent by console is not intercepted by modchip.

I tested with new flat cables, but the problem still the same.

If it reading the Security Ring and you're closing the lid before turning on the console
most definitely the chip is defective or installation wasn't done correctly.

*EDIT* I got you mixed up with another customer. I'd contact the person you bought it from and work with them to get you a replacement or refund.

    Hi milo (And everyone),

I got some bad news and good news.

Bad news is, I got my stock on time, but there was production issues with this Phantom restock :(.

But the good news is I got more on the way that won't take as long and should be here in 12 Days.

I tried to edit my main posts to update about the Phantom restock issue, but editing seems to be disabled for posts that pass a certain time limit. The only thing I can think of to fix this issue is trying to contact a moderator/admin to see If I can add a pastebin (update/add items, price, updates), but It's completely understandable why the staff disabled editing.

I'm very sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused,

    Hey thesteve/everyone,

The phantom replacement restock delivery got delayed by a business day because the manufacturer shipped a day late, so it got pushed back till the 18th (Today in my time zone). But all in all, should be here Today in the morning/afternoon :).
