I would like to build an RGB/SCART cable for the PC Engine by connecting it to the 23x3 expansion port connector on the back. It seems that such connectors do not exist, and the nearest thing I could find is something called 'Eurocard' connector, which are 32x3. My idea was the 'cut off' the extra bit, if it is possible (as the space between the holes must be tiny).

I also came across this, I wonder where I could get such a connector:

    try: http://www.otakus-store.net/en/
Although I haven't purchased anything from this store, he does have an ebay account under the same name if you prefer this method of purchase.
May look to pick one of these up myself as I'm having trouble locating a UK modding service for stock white PCE and Duo-RX. Tried Console Passion / Rob Webb with no luck.
Giving Raven Games a wide birth as they are very unprofessional and expensive, they already bodged a white PCE that I sent them.

If you don't want to mod the console then you could get a tennokoe 2 or backup booster and modify that for RGB.

I too would like to know where I can get a male connector for the pc engine, £45 seems a little high for a amp and a few soldered wires. I mean correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that all there is to it ?

Looking at that photo, I think they have just used a standard Eurocard connector and cut it down - you can see that the end of the connector closest to the camera has 2 plastic ribs on the back and the far end only has one - and it's narrower than any of the others. That all suggests that it's been cut off to me...

What you want to do is go to www.samtec.com and order a sample of:

    SSW-123-02-T-T-RA

    and

    SSQ-123-02-T-T-RA

These fit in the expansion slot.

I too ordered 3 each of these but received 6 of each and they are arrived today, for FREE!? Didn't think anyone did anything for free these days. I had to make up a company name, as this is a required field in the order form.
The only difference in the 2 items that I can see is slightly different shaped pins, one is flat while the other is square shaped.
Can anyone recommend some kind of housing/casing to fit the amp and connector into, maybe one of those little plastic project boxes?

Yes, they fit the ext bus perfectly. I think the project boxes will be too big to fit on the back of a PCE. I have ordered a cheap USB to SATA cable with the intention of using the SATA connector end housing for the PCE connector and amp. I don't yet know if it will fit properly, but it's worth a try.

BTW, if you have access to a 3D printer, I posted a model of the connector housing here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:420327 . I used it to make a composite cable for my TG16 with Molex C-Grid III crimp pins, but you could easily modify it for the RGB pins instead. I made the housing short, so I could leave the unmodified rear cover on, but you could extend it to mount into a project box, or even print the "box" as part of the housing.

Yes, they are. Maybe they could be cut off at the corner or straightened?

Isn't that what you want though? This makes it easy to use on a bread board or proto board.
