3rd xbox 360 died tonight. Was even about to start a 30 day achievement competition on 360voice.com for a $100 best buy gift card with only 14 other people. Figures.. I suppose I can sell the old refurbished 360 they send me on ebay, and probably get a ps3. Is it even worth it though? The multiplatform games are all the same, and I'd be paying more for the ability to play a couple of Sony exclusives. I'm about to give up on this shitty generation of consoles. Maybe I'll go play my old gray playstation from 1997 that still works fine.
Man thats to bad.And if your fed up with the 360 than go for it and get a PS3,there pretty solid machines.
Sometimes it's all luck of the draw. You don't want to know how many PS2s I killed, yet a friend of mine still has his launch PS2 running -perfectly-. -hl718
My 360 still works but i'm posibly ditching it. I'd rather wait around till they're cheaper and far more stable. In the mean time my PSP, DS & Ps3 keep me busy. Yet at the same time Omega Five is out next week.
no, it's out like that so I could look at the power supply light and see if it were the cables. It's just posing for a death photo.
no, when I replaced my last one at best buy, they gave me this one..which was older than the one I replaced.
When mine died I managed to get about $120 for the parts (console, power cable). My new one was about $200 so my out-of-pocket expense was $80, and in return I got a "fresh" system as opposed to my launch model. In the end it wasn't as bad as I thought, but yeah, it still sucks. Sorry to hear about it.
I guess even trading the one MS sends back it in to ebgames or someplace like that will get me more value, then I pay the difference for a ps3. I'll probably pick one up in a year or so if they get these problems fixed, if MS hasn't killed it off like they did the xbox by then.
If your lucky the one you get back will be a Falcon, or zephyr or something. I justs old my 360 and bought an Elite, turned out to be a Falcon, and it was totally worth it, but it is pretty stupid they keep dying. At least it's fixed for free, and chances are you'll get a better unit like I did.
Mine died twice on me and somehow I knew it would eventually from day one and it always gave me some sort of stress (as it was modded and hard to return to ms) so after some tricks I got a new one back and I sold it asap so now I am happy not to be a 360 owner anymore!.. who needs the stress anyway? been playing nintendo nes/snes carts lately and this is what actually makes me happy instead of all the graphical explosions on these new generation machines that keep breaking and keep track of me online and update themselfs with crappy patches....
WTF????......Falcon/Zephyr?...missed out on something what are these??? I have had one 360 replaced under years guarantee and my mate worked at the gamestore and it was the drawer stuck once, so he swapped it straight over Then that machine just before christmas I bought my son a wireless adapter, plugged it in and the machine died So got the box/receipt and wireless pad out, took it back to my mates game store (even though he has now left) No core machines anymore so can give you a arcade pack So a real touch So really most machines I have had are pretty bullet proof. new arcade and elite still going strong!!
Merely 'newer / future / more reliable' mobo/chip revisions that run cooler, thus less stress, in theory.
Yeah, the Falcon chip is the new 65nm chip that runs a bit cooler. And the Zephyr board is the new motherboard that has an added heat sink. I haven't heard of the models with those messing up. Would certainly be a much better option to look into than a PS3.
Shitty luck...however the whole red ring of death seems so unpredictable. I bought my 360 in sping '06 - 2nd model w/ Toshiba/Samsung drive and have never had a problem.....my buddy purchased one after that and is now on his 3rd one.
My 2nd 360 froze a few weeks ago and I think a red ringing on this one is inevitable. I wonder if the rumors about the ultimate are true because I'm all over all that if it is.
If im correct only the CPU is 65nm. The part that gives the RRoD is the GPU. A new and improved version of that is still lots of months away. Also the Elite is hardly guaranteed to be RRoD-free; plenty of Elites have died too. Luckily i have 2 360s around, the chance that both of them die at the same time is a bit smaller Yeah the stability is really a shame, else it would be a pretty damn good console. I'll still keep some working 360s around until the next generation of consoles. PS3 might be better in build-quality, but it cant match live or the 360's software library just yet. Plus all my friends have a 360, its no fun to be a loner with a PS3.
