One thing about the update is that its going on your 360 no matter what, even if you never go online. It will be a part of upcoming games via PSP firmware updates. Also the update has actully fixed problems for some people so its not pure evil. Hey If MS kills my console with an update, you can be sure Im gonna kick and scream untill they've replaced it.

Don't let that be the reason you never get it online. If you dont enjoy online gaming, thats a valid reason to try to keep it virgin.

I read an article which stated that most of the MMORPGs in Japan are free, and profit entirely of this micro-transaction shit... I'll see if I can get a link.

I can throw some names of games that survive on paying for perks. Raikon/Gunbound by Softnyx and a bunch of the E-games stuff like survival project. I can't think up any MMORPGs atm but I've certain I've heard/played some of them.

They give people a better chance/items compared to non-players, essentially anyone who actually plays seriously will pay money, it's more a gimick to hook you in.

But in the good'ol USA you will pay to play onlone and pay again to get content. Not to mention are internet costs are higher in the USA than anywhere else in the developed world

Ha! You obviously have never been to Europe. ;)

The US gets online *QUITE* cheaply.

It definatly does. I was absolutely floored by the prices in Australia, and New Zealand at least. Im so use to having near unlimited bandwidth for 40 or 50 a month for a 5 or 6 megabit connection. I dont see how I could get by with 20 gigs of bandwidth a month for $65 USD, on only a 2 megabit connection

I guess we have different source for our info. There is more to the overall value than just flat out price conversions.
