What they need to do is bring back the Game Boy. Y'know, portable games without gimmicks at an affordable price. I'd kill for a proper one-screen Nintendo portable with some good games that use buttons not styli.
I agree with you in spirit, but in practice DS has had plenty of good games that mostly ignore the stylus and use the second screen as nothing more than a status screen. Developers seem reasonably willing to ignore the gimmick features. I'm hoping it will be the same with 3DS - after all you can turn off the 3D altogether. On-topic: I ignore Japanese prices, they mean nothing, especially with the exchange rate what it is. This is the same country where Super Famicom games retailed for a ludicrous 9800Y after all. Going one step back on the list, DSi XL was never $240 here.
Yes, I suppose you're very right about that - My vision is certainly clouded by all the crappy crap in the way. I just wouldn't mind a little segregation, but I guess Nintendo is cumulatively redundant, not simultaneously redundant with their products. Eh, good point!
HISTORY HAS SHOWN THAT DIRECT CURRENCY CONVERSIONS FROM YEN TO USD FOR GAMING HARDWARE HAVE ALWAYS BEEN EQUAL ACROSS REGIONS. Sensationalism aside... Even in the current economic state, I doubt the 3DS will retail for more than 250USD. Japan pays a premium for portable goods because JAPAN LIEK PORTABLE GADGETS. /yelltime
My guess is $250. And I sadly would pay $250 because the DS was amazing. Gimmick titles aside, there are truly a ton of games on the DS that have strung a love chord in my heart. :love2: + Cant wait to buy Last Window (Hotel Dusk 2)!
Honestly $250 max. I have never seen nintendo charge more for something the in the U.S., in fact they usually charge less then they do in japan. In fact I would not be shocked if they are not announcing the other regions price tags as they are not sure how they should price it just yet.
Normally I'd say it would fail if that is the price but since I am always wrong when it comes to predicting Nintendo and handhelds I'm just going to bite my tongue on this one.
Tbh, when the DS lite and DSi were released the yen was still a lot more affordable. The lite was just over 100 euro's, the DSi was somewhere around 130-140 euro's. If currency was still like 2007 the 3DS would run you 150-160 euro's.. So not entirely Nintendo's fault.
^^ This I fully expect a $250USD launch price. I was more disappointed that they aren't releasing the thing until after the new year.
