3D on the 3DS is excellent. I can't watch the Bourne films due to motion sickness (had to leave the cinema during the 3rd one) but the 3DS really is staggering impressive. The built-in software is great too. The unit also feels really solid. I'm very impressed with it. You'll love it Subbie I've heard nothing of the sort here in Tokyo... selling like hotcakes! Took me ages to find one. The 3D slider is really good. You hold the DS at whatever distance you feel like holding it at, and then adjust the slider to whatever level of 3D you want. I played Ridge Racer with full 3D and "50% 3D" and there wasn't much in it at all really. The graphics are great... it's a leap regarding just the graphical power before we even talk 3D
^^^ AARRGGHH I'm Jealous. I really don't want to import though, because most of what I'll eventually end up playing will surely be text-heavy RPG's that I can't easily navigate in Japanese. I haven't been this amped about a hardware launch since the N64, I think.
I know, I've already ordered one. At the moment two weeks is seeming like a long time I realize that it isn't. I'm not going to import one.
Did you like it at all though? The Mario game they showed a few screenshots of and they'll show at E3 will probably make me purchase one, just not sure when.
I imported because a majority of the stuff I'd be interested in won't leave japan in the first place. Second I have a JPN Lime Green DSi and DSiware in japan was freaking awesome when the USA service was still shit in a can. :033:
Do you think it's a better idea to try to get one at Gamestop, or something like Amazon? How do preorders work with Amazon, anyway? I'm talking about the US release, obviously.
Hate to beat the same old drum, but the region coding lark really puts a damper on this, because I honestly don't know which region to go for. I quite fancy replaying Zelda OOT in Japanese and giving my language skills a workout (plus I could just walk to the store and buy a 3DS rather than dealing with importers), but I'm not sure I want to be tied into a Japanese model when the more difficult games (linguistically) appear. Not to mention the fact that Sky 3D and Eurosport 3D are coming to the UK machine. Nintendo Europe continue to be completely useless at doing anything at all ever though, hence I usually stick to US when it comes to anything Nintendo. I'd probably of bought one already if it wasn't for these shenanigans.
The region locking stuff is really stupid. I get nintendo has a reason for doing it but because of it, I will most likely buy fewer 3DS games as a result. Like I would love to buy pilotwings USA & Steal Diver when they come out in USA but I can't. So instead I'll probably only get Steal Diver in a few months from japan when I pick up Gundam 3D Battle (one of the reasons I got a JPN unit in the first place). I guess on the plus side it probably might help make used imports cheaper since the market for them will be much smaller.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HfDxEuW6gLo LoL nintendo. I know it's not shocking parts will have a similar nature but to be that exact is funny.
Anybody looking to import a 3DS. They're now down to $330 buygame2. While I wish they would drop the prices on the games a bit, $330 is pretty reasonable, if you had someone get one in japan and payed some extra for it, you're bound to pay about the same. http://www.buygame2.com/en/shop_front.php?subcat_id=65
I hadn't been paying much attention to the Japanese launch lineup so I hadn't even heard of this. Youtube vids look impressive, basically DS Federation vs Zeon DX. I bet there's no chance it'll come stateside.
Had a go on the 3DS today and I have to say the 3D is a real mind fuck. It didn't help I was hungover made me feel real sick. The 3D itself is kind of like a hologram sort of an effect which I thought looked pretty weird.
I highlighted the important points! ^^ I played it whilst sober and loved it... didn't fuck with my mind at all. P.S. Are you Charlie Sheen? If so, you should detox
Actually it's by ArtDink who has been doing Gundam & Macross games on the PSP. The best being Gundam Battle Universe (3rd of 4 games on PSP) but the first one the series very much felt like they took capcom's Fed vs Zeon naomi/dreamcast game and went from there. They even seem to share a few levels. None of the PSP Gundam games made it out of japan and I don't really expect 3D battle to start a new trend. Even on PS3, only mousu gundam & one of 2 gundam games made it out of japan (sucks since the 2nd is a good game and the one that did came out was crap). I'm a bit mixed on 3d battle. It looks to be a quick release that reuses much from the previous psp games with only some improvements in the gundam models and new 3d particle effects but if it plays like GBU and not Gundam Assault Survive then it will still be damn good fun. As for the Gundam Vs series (which also is really big on the psp). Gundam Extreme vs better be getting it's ass on the NGP and pronto after launch! -edit- If you can't tell, i'm a bit of a gundam game fan when it comes to the 3d battle games. http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28241 (totally outdated since i've gotten much more since)
Huge fan of ArtDink, played through abit of Gundam Battle Universe, Assault Survive, and most of Macross Ultimate Frontier. Just got through Gundam Musau 3 and playing the new Generation G game on psp. It does look like for the 3DS gundam game they took some assets from the psp games (like the pilot pics). I guess I've been spoiled with the Psp being region free that I never thought about all the great 3DS import games we'll miss here in the US. Of course a game shark (do they still make those?) or some kind of bypass will come out I'm sure for import games.
Gundam 3D battle is probably 80% assets from GBU & GAS. =/ I'll probably try grabbing it in april when the price will come down a bit (import price will probably be $60+ out of the gate then drop from there). -edit- I need to get off my ass and get the latest macross game for PSP.
