Hey, once again I've got a dead 360. No red ring, but I have a blind GPU like another dude here. No display. I was playing Katamari and the colors went LSD and now I'm waiting on a coffin once again. =(
That sucks man... Most 360 games I own I got before I got a gaming PC, and are also on the PC now. Only recent game I was gonna play for my good ol 360 was Fable 2. Anyways, I hope you get it fixed soon.
that happened to me a long time ago. Luckily the newer 360 has behaved itself thus far... might be because it gets 5mins of play every fortnight though lol
I'm with my 6th X360, the system quality control is the biggest piece of shit that I've seen in my life as console player.
Yup. No argueing that. I even have a Falcon. 360 #1 was a Xenon from 2006, around Gears of War. Died 6 months later on the Halo 3 beta. #2 died on Aegis Wing barely a month later. #3 was sold to buy a Falcon Elite. Falcon Elite was killed by an update. #4 was killed by....Katamari? What the fuck. Why hasn't anything actually intensive killed any 360s. And if it's not red rings it's something else. If I had to pay for these repairs I would not be playing 360. Or PS3 to be honest. I probably would just play my computer or something.
I had a dev kit, which costs about 1000$, and it died, you can imagine my happines as a customer after that. And what is more funny, as I've explained when it happened, bought a new one at Tokyo, and it came with the AV output broken, good job Microsoft!
The newer the console, the more likely will it die. In 2020 everybody will still be playing Famicom but a working 360 is not to be found anywhere. :110:
I'm on my 3rd 360. I take all the precautions short of keeping it in a cooler making it stay at 60F or something like that. Yet my first 2 consoles died. It's not the user's fault generally. My first 360 died a typical red ring death. My second died more... interestingly. I was playing Gears of War online. Suddenly the graphics went wonkey on it. Like every other scanline (lines going horizontally) were black. And then, shadows stopped being shaped correctly. Instead they'd be rectangles and things. And alittle later, it became hard to see the game because blocks of color would block my camera. Anyway, eventually I quit playing and I was going to turn it on again to erase my gamertag from the HD but it didn't work at all by then. So anyway, I got a new 60GB unit. I'd guess that's a "falcon" or whatever. At the very least it has a 65nm cpu. I doubt it has the 65nm gpu. But it doesn't matter, it's insured for anther 2 years.
I was going to get a falcon 360, but I guess that won't save me:noooo: Midnight Milkshake: next time they dick you over demand a NIB 360. You're probably getting refurbished/returns. Unless they're "repairing" yours. I want to get one modded/flashed but if they don't last what's the point? I'll stick with my Wii.
chaoticdaos, jasper are out there and they're more reliable. Hum... usually falcons work great. I, for my part, have a Xenon since 2006 and it is still working without a glitch
Yup, that would be me  That SUCKS.. I was playing CoD4 when it happened, the screen just went fuckin' crazy!.. The following days it did sent out some kind of video signal but now there's no image and only sound. Heard that most of the time that's an easy fix, just haven't had the time to look at it yet. Good Luck
I got it to work again with the towel trick, but no idea how much longer it'll work. At least I can use it till the coffin gets here, then maybe I can red ring it or something. I like how I take care of my 360 and have so many red rings and my friend throws his all over the place and hasn't had any problems.
xbox360's are dying like flies, the ps3 is overpriced and quite disappointing (i know because i own one myself) and the wii has technology from 7 years ago. all in all this generation of consoles does not deliver just yet ;-/
Counting my new ones, this makes seven 360's for me. I just bought a rrod from a pawn shop for $50, sent it out. Once it came back I bought a case off ebay from a dead 360 and threw more fans in it than I have on my pc. I have it set up to run the fans before it turns on to pre cool, then the key feature: You need to cool the 360 after it is off or the residual heat will cook it. Easily done with the new intercooler 360 with external psu and switch. You can leave it on for about 10 mins after the 360 is off. I have two scythe fans on it, very quiet. They are 1500rpm, I wish I had bought the 3000rpm ones and put in a fan controller. I sealed the gaps around the fan with some silicone as the 360 is curved, so there's gaps. Total price was under $100 for the whole machine and materials.
