700x PS1 Toslink Success

Can i use the SN74HC04N DIP (data sheet http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/sn74hc04.pdf) instead of TC74HC04AP (Data sheet http://docs-europe.electrocomponents.com/webdocs/0826/0900766b8082659a.pdf) DIP.. At ebay cannot find the TC74HC04AP one and on Aliexpress the seller after a month has not shiped the TC74HC04AP.

I have everything ready but miss this component :-(

 

just grab one from digi-key.

even though he wrote TC74HC04, the part he linked on digi-key appears to be "TC74HC04APF"
im not hardware sawwy enough to tell the difference, but i grabbed this particular one from digi-key and it worked as expected.

 

I cannot buy from digi-key, after register the account they contacted me to reasure that i'm a student from a university, and at final my account became a comercial account for business, when trying to process my shopping cart they ask for a specific values (normaly used for commercial business). And i think the shipping cost to Portugal is around 18€ :-(

 

Yes. You can use pretty much any vendor's 74HC04 as long as the package matches - and in this case, TI's 'N' package is the same as Toshiba's 'P' package (both plastic 14 pin DIP).

The new revision of the board is missing the 74HC04. Will it work without it? And should I use the new revision with the SPDIF board without the 0,1µF cap? https://oshpark.com/shared_projects/b9Fjt84V

EDIT: Oh I see, the replacement for the TC74HC04 is on U1.

 

That board has a spot for an 0603 .1u cap. There is no silk screen marking.

The boards preform the same, but the smaller SPDIF board works better in a gamecube.
