Hrm I will check this out.
    EDIT:
How can they call this a remake and it only Runs at 640X480?
    That's pathetic!

Plus Vsync option in the video menu is broken, I still get all kinds of tearing and the gameplay moves as if it's on turbo speed.(And yes i'm running full screen)

At least the music is good.

Well, they didn't call it an HD remake. Mario 3 was remade for the SNES and that ran in a fairly low resolution too. :p

Come on man, they've been working on this since 2003 and they probably received little to no money for their efforts. Show a little more respect.

I'm a great fan of Streets of Rage but also think that this is not that good.

They deserve respect, of course, but they could have choosen another franchise. Or created one.

I don't like the remake and don't like the "expanded universe", like they call it...

Well, for those who don't mind seeing something so special like Streets of Rage being spoiled (in my opinion), it should be good.

It could've at least been PC standard resolution of 10 years ago. 1024x768.
640X480 was standard almost 20 years ago!

Considering this is made for PC my Point of view is entirely valid.

I'm not saying that your point isn't valid at all, even though I'd imagine that it only runs in such a low resolution due to the extra effort involved in redrawing all of the sprites and graphics to look good in higher resolutions.

It's just that they put a decent amount of work into it and then gave it out for free. You can try it, you can complain, but free is free and you're honestly entitled to nothing in an instance like that.

Personally, I'd be a bit insulted if all my years of profitless work were received with nothing but criticism when the work itself has no adverse effects on anything and serves as nothing but a mere fan contribution.

I don't even care about the Streets of Rage universe (though the first 2 were great) and I haven't even downloaded this, but I still think it was cool of that guy to go to all that effort for nothing. That's all I'm really trying to say here.

you should be insulted if you don't have the insight to foresee the future release of your game and standards at the time as well as thinking of how people would react if you release it in such an insanely outdated manner without some sort of disclaimer as to what the best environment for playing it is in such as " CRT Monitors recommended"

Free or not, IT'S NO FUCKING EXCUSE. Especially when the work is of professional quality.

In fact if I was the one making this game, I would feel rather stupid. You can play the original games on emulators and make them look better than this.

Just because it's free, it does not become exempt from criticism.

In fact, they can look upon criticism as a way to improve it from user feedback. As it should be.

How else will they ever improve their game if they don't have someone else from an objective point of view presents an area to be improved upon if they can't see it for themselves?

Bottom line: It has tons of potential to be so much better than it is.

Vosse, I think you're kind of missing the point of the game. For one thing, it isn't 640x480 - I think it's probably more like 320x240, just like the original games. I don't think it's supposed to be a new, improved remake of the original like some games you see on XBLA or PSN. It's more just mixture of elements of all the original games, sort of shuffled around into something that's new but still in a similar vein - sort of like Sonic Megamix.

Therefore, to complain about it not being 1024x768 seems kinda irrelevant. It's like complaining that a waffle iron won't tell you the news; that's not its purpose.

I only used 1024x768 as an example.
640x480 is the lowest resolution my LCD supports so if its infact 320x240 the same stands.

And if it supposed to be a mixture of elements purely(which seems to be the most accurate) rather than an actual remake then they shouldn't parade it around as "Bare Knuckle/Streets of Rage Remake" (of course Remake can be interpreted different ways unfortunately, so to me calling it a Remake is misleading.)

Still, I managed to fix the "Super sped up gameplay" by playing windowed. Which is weird.

Well, i like it. I didn't pay for it or did i request it. The game is there for the taking. If you don't like it then that's fine. If you do like it that's also fine. There are far more worse free games out there based upon major titles. It's just a fan made effort. No need for it to run in high resolution. There's no standard. It's what you want it to be. Simple as that. So let's get back to the plesent life we all like.

I like it , its free and its expanded from the original.
A lot of work has gone into this, its a tribute and it shows hardwork and talent too.

People are free to critique it though and are allowed their own perspective.
    I am just wondering

"Well, for those who don't mind seeing something so special like Streets of Rage being spoiled (in my opinion), it should be good."

What did you find that was particularly spoiled by it?
