    Main screen turn on.

It looks like this to me:

1)Dude announces sale ahead of time so that choice buyers can "snipe" the buying with a post
2)Previously mentioned dude posts sale thread lacking pictures with item
3)Thread also lacked his handle being visible anywhere for items over $100
4)At the time of the post he was 3 posts short of being allowed to post anything for sale
5)At least one of the items being sold was a copy of what was probably a development CD-R, further violating the rules
6)Dude previously mentioned insults everyone except Bramsworth as he apparently wants to take the high road or something
    7)CLUSTERFUCK ENGAGED
    8)You are here

There are videos on his youtube of him loading the tomb raider beta's.... and i guess he posted a video or videos of 1.5 footage but it was taken down so fast none of us got to see it. I want to see this 1.5 footage.

I just happened across this thread and your post, Bramsworth, was quite an excellent read. People can do whatever they please with their merchandise--even take a piss on them, as Kiff mentioned, which is completely in their right--but it just doesn't seem to make "sense," giving the nature of this community and forum. People are here, as far as I can tell, to find and preserve our gaming roots via documenting and sharing unreleased/proto copies of games.

I even wanted to do the same with protos for Silent Hill 2 (at one point I was willing to offer one-to-two thousand bucks for a particular build!) just so I could scrutinize every last detail and share the findings in an in-depth article full of images, videos and notes. At one point I thought I was getting close to a lead just to find another person already has "dibs" on all this person's Silent Hill discs, which threw me out of the picture for a sale. :-/ I don't know how many discs have been sold to this person, but there hasn't been any footage or news of its contents as far as I know. (There is a SH2 E3 dump that was released by a friend of mine so at least one foot found its way in the door!)

Your post, which I've quoted below, just happened to strike a cord with me and felt the need to share my own thoughts. I know money talks around these places when it comes to protos. I figured offering a grand or two for a specific SH2 disc would've been the way to finally get the ball rolling on acquiring and sharing elsewhere. To say I was surprised that it wasn't enough to see a potential sale through would be an understatement. Then as I read more in this thread, I become further surprised how this person allegedly now has a copy of RE1.5 in his hands-- the step I could not even get to--and still decides the best thing to do is publicly announce such and slink into the shadows. It just goes against the sense of community and fandom.

Money is important. Money is a necessity. If you really want more of it why not do a community fundraiser for a data dump? But if you can spend that much on a few discs, then there's a chance you're probably well enough off already. So then, maybe, share said contents with other fans? Why not give yourself a name and a little infamy around a user base that loves the same thing you do? Really, the only thing better than loving something is having other people who love it love you for it, also.

I'm always scared to post on these boards as I feel I'm unfit to be here... as if my mentality for proto hunting is off-base or unwelcome with the majority. But if most others do hunt for the intention of truly sharing one way or another (full dump, tons of videos, bunch of images... whichever someone feels most comfortable doing) then thank you. After reading this thread alone, I don't think I'd have the patience or sanity to be jerked around like what the folks here dangling RE1.5 over your heads do to you. While I am scared to show up and post, I will always be rooting for you guys in the background. And if there's ever a community fundraiser for the release of a proto for a game I'm also genuinely interested, I will always do my best to help the cause.

Good luck to you all. :)

I couldn't agree more. Your post was well worded and very much on-topic. Infact, it was just the type of post which made me sign up to this forum in the first place!
Unfortunately there isn't too many of these posts anymore!

Picking up on what you said about the OP not doing a fundraiser... my thoughts are that he posted on his Facebook account with the intention of rousing interest, he then listed on the forums knowing full well he didn't have sufficiant posts also knowing that his sale would be wrapped up before anything could be done about it!
Fundraisers take a lot of effort and time, something the OP didn't have the luxury of! Let's face it, had he done a fundraiser for the 1.5 data he could have asked a whole bundle more than £950! He was clearly in it for the quick and easy buck!

Its still way too fishy. Why would he be sending 950 pounds to bluestone-online.com? That is what is transaction says. In addition, it shows a related transaction, which is usually the transfer of money from a bank account. Unless one of them owns bluestone-online, it wouldnt show up there, simple as that. Nor would it have an item number

So sad to see this one go. Luckily it will be only a matter of time when they release the original 40% build along with the finished one they're doing by the end of the year, so no worries. We'll get 1.5 it is only a matter of time. =]

Whoever releases it will be the hero, with the legend being sing by bards all across the world.

    Cheers!

apparently he took the video down because other people who have the betas in their possession started threatening him for daring to share information

Jay® is out on a week long ban. If you guys can't talk to each other like civilized people then I'll just lock the thread down and hand out more bans (I'm eying you Mr Image poster I told to cut it out).

Consider this your guys only warning.

Personally I'm afraid that something like this will end up lost forever. Do you people have any idea how many movies were lost because they were made of easily degraded film that could catch fire without much trouble? There are presumably less than 10 copies of this not withstanding whatever Capcom has in a vault somewhere and that is assuming they felt it necessary to preserve their work. Many companies didn't and many likely don't to this day.

I've never been a big fan of fundraisers but I feel they're a necessary evil so that hoarders get some compensation for the loss of value releasing something inevitably has. Like the RIAA I feel they tend to overestimate the monetary value lost but I don't doubt it occurs. This is how museums more/less operate with paintings albeit they can't release a quantum scan for others to recreate in their matter printing machine so they can have their own personal Mona Lisa at home with every crack, dirt particle and DNA strand on it.

Posting my private messages is not nice. That makes me sad. Yes, it was me, and I have done nothing wrong. Where did I threat you?

EDIT: removed overly mad comments.... :S

The transaction has been done, this thread should be closed.

I'm sure there is a reason it hasn't. There isn't any sort of rule/policy that says "once the transaction is complete all sale topics are to be locked".

APE - I wouldn't worry about this being lost. If this thread is to be believed, it will only be a matter of time for an owner needs more $$$ so sells some more COPIES!

And then of course there is the other thread / project, which looks far more promising and better handled.
