I've beaten Silent Hill Downpour this weekend and I can say that it's one of the best. They improved the combat style that was bad in previews games. It's not the best but it's a lot better. They used the running purchase of Silent Hill Shattered Memories in a new and faster way! I loved it! The game has tons of side quests to give you 20+ hours of game play, take the biggest name in the franchise Silent Hill 2 that one has 2 or 3 hours. There are some flaws like not being able to know what you are going to pick when "pick up" option shows on the screen. But that's not something that takes the game away from you. I'll play Resident Evil RC when my 360 gets back from glitching but from what I saw this is another great game. People are demanding God of War/Metal Gear Solid out of every game. This is very unfair.
From what I've seen, RE: RC looks awful. But seriously, did anyone think the whole thing was anything but a bad idea from the start?
My my, what a short memory we have. Refresher: http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?36982-Ninja-Gaiden-3 Addendum: I told you so.
Oh IGN sells good reviews and gave a game a 3 becuase KoeiTecmo didn't write them a check and you say told me so. Sorry the FUCK YOU train already left and I'm on it.

RE will never return to its golden age. I still don't understand why people like RE4 so much. It's a completely different kind of game from the previous titles, and not as enjoyable/scary/fun IMO. It has really good graphics, but other than that I don't see the appeal. And pretty much every RE game since has been in a similar vein, so I'm not interested.
To be honest, the classic Resident Evil should and must be dead by now. It was repetitive with 3 + 1 games like that. Resident Evil 1, 2,3 and Code Veronica. Did anyone enjoyed Code Veronica that much? The classic style is present. The games must evolve and it seems people get offended by that. Resident Evil 4 is difference from the classic and Resident Evil 5 is different from it's predecessor. You can't only add better graphics and sound, or else we would had only HD Collections by now.
RE4 was awesome. Returning to its "golden age" of crappy camera angles, tank controls? You people sound just like those who yearn for the days of the USSR.
I think comparing Resident Evil to Soviet Russia is a bit of a stretch... but anyway, I liked the controls. It felt like an adventure game - you had to carefully choose what you were going to do, rather than then just jumping into it headfirst. And more importantly, it had a different kind of atmosphere. It was suspenseful, moody. RE4 is more like an action game. I have no problems with games evolving, I just happen to think this was not a good way for it to evolve. Perhaps "golden age" is a little too strong a term. It's just games that I enjoy the most. I really enjoyed Code Veronica as well. I never actually beat it, though.
No, RE5 was more like an action game. RE4 may not have been very scary, but at least it had the appearance and atmosphere of a horror game. Just because it doesn't have bad camera angles or awkward controls doesn't mean it's not a horror game. I don't mean this against anyone on here personally, but I find it funny that the majority of people LOVED RE4 years ago, and once RE5 was released, everyone began to hate on RE4 and act like it was the downfall of the series. Blame RE5, not RE4.
I was comparing the love people have for RE of old to that of people for the Russia of old: its stupid and doesn't belong in any rational mind. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE RE1-3 and CV. Absolutely love em, have a busted up Resident Evil Saturn disc on my wall rather than throw it out. But that JPEG background with 3D model on the front died as it should have with RE:CV. With RE:CV it was apparent those camera angles needed some sort of work and outright killing it was probably easier than retooling it.
A bad magazine that gives good scores out like candy on Halloween is your counter-example? Why don't you take a gander at MetaCritic and see how things turned out for ole' NG3. Here, I'll do it for you: http://www.metacritic.com/search/all/Ninja+Gaiden+3/results Compared to the original's 91 and NGII's 81, I'd say... ... I told you so!
To be honest, I liked RE4 and RE5. But specially with RE4 the camera angle from behind the guy's neck is terrible. I often step on traps because I can't see the freaking floor! The computer mod to use mouse and better graphics (yes, better than HD collection for the PS3) give the game a second felling easier to play. A guy did some videos on youtube to show how RE4 would be in those static camera angles and guess what? It sucks for RE4. RE4 and RE5 are not bad games they are just different. One thing I miss from the "golden age" (I would say classic), is the city atmosphere, the destroyed town, maybe I can get it back with the new Resident Evil Racoon City Operation. By the way, it's shame we have so many HD collections from the PS2 games and not a HD version of PS1 games. I would love to play RE1, 2,3 with improved graphics or even Silent Hill 1.
Would this also add to the fact of no Action Replay/Gamesharks for current consoles? Just like the every other Capcom you always pay extra and then they release a "Super/Ultimate/Gold edition" game with everything there... People should never rush into them.
DLC is hurting game sales if anything is as the more money gamers have to spend on each game, the fewer actual games they will buy. They act like their consumers are bottomless wallets.
Code Veronica's graphics spoiled the whole experience for me; the monsters just looked like they were made from play-doh. The main first three games had that experience for me but definitely not CV. It just seemed like a joke to me, honestly.
