The twist is that the buyer is of course a user here. I won't name him or her until this is resolved. Basically, the user lives overseas, but has a relative that lives here that I delivered to on their request. Great, no problem. Except the relative didn't sign for the package, and hasn't gone to get the item from the Post Office, and now the user here is content just to wait for the item to be returned to me, and demands a refund. How fucked up is that? I put the money on bills and a honeymoon, but now because the buyer decides that its not worth the hassle or doesn't want the item, Im now expected to refund 500$ that I don't have, just because? And I know I likely have no grounds to stand on, since Ebay is a shithole of shitholes now, plus I am currently out the item for the next couple of weeks so I can't even sell it and use that money to give a refund. I hate people like this, and Ebay for allowing buyers to take advantage of a seller.
I wouldn't give a refund. I'd say take the item, or you loose it. If your PayPal account isn't empty, do it now. If he tries a charge back your protected. Once he realizes no amount of fussing will get him his money back, he'll change his tune and want the item. And get the item he will, at his own expense for shipping.
Its not that simple if dont want negative feedback. Thats the crappy part about being a seller on eBay now a days is that your now basically the buyers bitch because negative feedback is only a one way street now. Ive been selling on there for 6 years now and ever since since eBay removed the seller from having the option of leaving anything but positive feedback its become a real shit storm. I run only a small store but Ive still given atleast 5 refunds in the past year to buyers that didnt deserve it just to keep my feedback at 100%. Anyways I feel your pain bro, especially with it being around $500, that just sux.
The package has been delivered pretty much, the post office can only hold the item for so long. The buyer loses it and you keep the money ONLY because you've done everything right. I'd just let it slide don't even act on it at all, just keep the money (if you have it). Many eBayer sellers have done this to me and happen to get away with it. I've lost quite a bit of money through those type of sellers and I don't even have an income.. Negative feedback doesn't mean shit, eBay is always on the WRONG person's side, much like the problem I had with the bag... Of course it wasn't $500.
One negative feedback isn't exactly the end of the world anyway and imo worth it for $500, the cances are if this guy keeps pulling stunts like this he will be banned from ebay eventually and the feedback will automatically be removed We should have an ASSEMblergames enforcement team, do a fundraiser to buy me a helicopter and helicopter lessons and therapy to get over my fear of heights, then I'll go around and "resolve" such issues
The fucker has opened a case against me. NDS_Demo is an asshole. I have been in full contact with you. I held up my end of the bargain. I don't care that you can't get your relative to answer, that is your job. Pick up the damn package. I offered to reship it to you. But it is clear that you just want a refund. And if you even think about scamming me, you have no idea what you have gotten yourself into.
And now I have a negative paypal balance. I did you a favor by accepting your best offer. You sir are an asshole of all assholes. I have never had an issue on Ebay before until you.
This guy will have a lot of visitors to suss who he is lol! http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?39364-Price-Check-Nitro-IS-Capture
Ive called everyone, it is a waiting game now. And go figure, he had the nerve to request that he still get a copy of software. /sigh
I actually called them, and they said it was the strangest case that the guy has seen in a while. He said worse case scenario, I have to refund when it gets back to me. But he left notes on the account for what was said.
I've mailed out items only for them to be refused delivery and sent back to me. The buyer then gets prissy about the fact that nobody at the residence will own up to refusing delivery. In the end he paid for it to be shipped back again with no signature required so it can just sit on his doorstep. I don't see how he can claim to want a refund before the item is returned. All it would take is the relative to go to the post office and claim the item after the refund is forcibly issued for him to gain coming and going. Sounds like a scam to me. Beyond a handful of shipping oddities I've never had real problems with eBay. One prick decided he didn't like that I left negative feedback after I bought a $5 copy of HoTD3 because it was heavily scratched - something he failed to mention. He did offer a refund if I returned it but then I'd have been out money for his mistake and negligence. Being he couldn't leave me negative feedback he left me positive feedback with "cried over a scratched disc even after offering a refund".
It's real horseshit. Ive spoken to Ebay anyway, so I can hope for the best. And if not, he won't be getting off easy, that is for sure.
I always get copy and pasted answers from eBay and PayPal... Calling is the best option but hopefully you get a good result!
I hope they (eBay/PayPal) get it right and ban the user for trying to scam you. If I was you, I would have opened the case before the buyer did, so as to show some initiative to eBay (not sure if that helps... just saying). And make sure you send them all evidence you have that the buyer just doesn't want to go pickup (or work with his relative to pickup) the item.
