I feel sorry for whoever pays any amount of money for that altered Zelda cart.

edit: Reported to eBay. Bit dumb that they only give you 100 characters to describe why something is fake. Still, the seller practically admits it. Says there was no sticker on the cartridge yet there is sticker residue clearly visible in the picture.

Description, quoted in case they edit:

Thing is - original carts used different jumpers. And yeah, today it's not much of a problem to make a cart that looks exactly like original.

Unless you take a screwdriver to the cart, you'll never know.

There's a lot of "repair or make complete" kits on eBay these days, who knows really what you're buying and PatNesPunk said exactly that. He mentioned the Flinstones game, there's these stickers you can buy and easily make a fake, pretty sure this would go for NWC too.

Fakes arent happening unless someone has copied the PCB. Which hasnt happened... (yet at least).

Bank of switches just looks like a sticker, not the same as the original.

Without opening the cart, you won't know if the bank switches are real though, and some people on eBay are easily fooled and would bid from a 240x320 image of something rare. :p

Pictures on ebay are legit switches. The PCB around the gap is also easy to spot.

I would hope anyone with 15-100k to spend wouldnt just bid blindly, any collector with that much money isnt an idiot.

I'm not doubting the ones Pikkon linked, I'm just saying in general some people can get taken for a ride. Obviously these bids are fake, and the seller said he doesn't know what to do about it. When a simple solution would be to deny score 0 bidders. :/

Having a look at the board shots, is there any reason why 2 of the chips look very scratched/old and the others all look like new?

Eproms are reprogrammable. They probably just grabbed some they had on hand and erased them. Rest of the board is specific to the game and would have been new.

Not saying that these are fake (I think they are legit myself) but unfortunately the possibility is always something that will be a part of these deals with no absolute guarantee. If there is enough profit to be made in faking these than someone will make them.

If they actually sell for 100k, you can bet your ass they will be faked. But I don't see any of these selling as it's all troll bidding
