And yet you keep using terms that strongly imply you think it is without merit. Dare I say the sort of thing I'd expect from a school yard fanboy throw down: http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2001/02/12/
Lol funny skit there but as i was saying, if you like a repetitive anime series it's fine by me (because then again DBZ is supposedly be the Super Mario Bros of the entire Anime industry) shows like Inuyasha, Yuyu Hakusho, Jojo's Bizzare Adventures just to throw a few out, are more than enjoyable imho.
Bakemonogatari ( this one is probably my favorite series, Don't forget to watch the other seasons too) Kill La Kill ( battle panties, what else is there to love!?) Serial Experiments Lane ( really awesome if you like scifi alot) Steins;Gate( don't bother watching chaos;head, it's complete shit) Puella Magi Madoka Magica ( a twist on the magical girl genre. It's a lot darker than most magical girl series but not as dark as most people say) I know I have more favorites up my sleeve but this is all I can think of right now.
My Main issue with Dragon ball is Goku himself. He's a Manchild and unfit parent. Seeing as death basically means nothing in that world, The Fact that Goku would rather die than spend anytime with Gohan and later Goten is sickening. I can't think of any point over the entire span of Dragon Ball Z where Goku made any effort to be a father. MEENWHILE Vegeta actually shows he cares about Trunks and Bulma, not just being the strongest and defending Earth. In short, Goku is a deadbeat dad. I don't disagree with you. Anime lately seems to be made not for Japanese audiences but to sell to Funimation where Stupid weeaboos will eat it up. GTO is life changing. I really didn't like Attack on Titan, NHK, Gundam Wing, or how Big O ended. Kll La Kill is awesome it's a shame the Blu Rays are going to be expensive as fuck. Stiens Gate was awesome. Mayuri is the Anime South Park Kenny. Lain is all kinds of fucked up.
Super Dimensional Fortress Macross Genesis Climber Mospeada Robotech (if you want to consider this anime) My bride is a Mermaid (Funny as hell) Any Studio Ghibli Film (especially the Hayao Miyazaki films) Fate Stay Night Sailor Moon (Japanese with english subs at least I'm still waiting for the new english dub from VIZ before I decide to recommend it or not) Bakaretsu Hunters (Sorcerer Hunters for those that don't know the english name for the series) Megazione 23 Pt 1-3 (the first and second parts are the best but the third parts are still pretty good) Haganai I don't have any friends, and Haganai Next Tokyo Underground Gad Guard Elemental Gelade Onegai Twins Hell Girl Death Note Now and then here and there Sakura Wars Cutie Honey High School DxD
Interesting thing I noticed about the first film in Memories, Magnetic Rose: the plot and the setting are very similar to part of the plot of William Gibson's Neuromancer. Undoubtably Otomo and Satoshi Kon had this in mind when they were making it. I'm not saying it's a rip-off - it's still a totally different story. But it is clearly influenced by the Gibson novel. The same could be said of a lot of sci-fi anime. The second film (Stink Bomb), though, has to be my favorite. That film reminds me a lot of Dr. Strangelove - again, probably intentional. I just love the concept of an entire army trying to kill one dude, and failing miserably. It's funny and horrifying at the same time.
Initial D is airing it's final 2 episodes on the 22nd in Japan. Then in august launching a reboot as a film that is split up into 3 short films and spaced out. They have Stage 1, Stage 2, and Stage 4 on Netflix. The GOOD dub by Funimation (and not the horrible dub by Tokyopop). If you've never seen it, I recommend it - the first season has pretty bad artwork and kinda cheesy CGI for the cars but it gets WAY better over time. The best part, despite being ran from 1998-2014 the show doesn't have a lot of episodes. And there aren't any episodes that are "filler", when the show would catch up to the manga they'd just stop making episodes. lol First Stage - 26 episodes Second Stage - 13 episodes extra stage - OVA Third stage - movie Fourth Stage - 24 episodes Extra Stage 2 - OVA Fifth Stage - 14 episodes Final Stage - 4 episodes There's also 2 "battle stages" that just show the races without the other parts of the show, and each one has like I think 2 additional races not shown in the show originally.
Now that I've ranted here is my list of some of the better anime I've seen the last few years. (An * notes that while good it has the problems I was bitching about) * Baka and Test - Funny with some good in jokes * High School DxD and DxD New - Perverted but funny with a pretty decent story * The Devil is a Part Timer - Demon lord ends up working at McDonalds * Monogatari series - Damn great supernatural comedy series * My Teen Romantic Comedy: SNAFU - Good school club comedy * D-Frag - Good school club comedy * Silver Spoon - Great school life comedy Knights of Sidonia - So far a good sci-fi space mecha anime Seitokai Yakuindomo - Perverted but funny school club comedy Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet - Good sci-fi space mecha anime * Maoyuu Maou Yuusha - Decent hero vs dark lord story with a twist Jormungand - Really good action series about arms dealer * WataMote - The anti-school life comedy No Game No Life - Hikikomori siblings get transported to another world... Pretty good so far.
Bulma is just all kinds of hot. I got in trouble with a girlfriend once for looking for Bulma Hentai. I have Extreme Stage on PS3 I keep meaning to check the actual show out. The whole style and Eurobeat soundtrack is allureing but the show it self is a long daunting task. Does anyone like Slice of life shows? Kids on the Slope was produced by many of the same people behind Cowboy Bebop but it totally different from the other 4 Shows they produced. It also made me cry like a bitch it was so touching.
Sounds like a Plan. I'll check it out on Netflix after I finish Kill la Kill (half way through now), and Add you on PSN so we can race and I'll be all over the road.
Sweet I'll be on later today then. My PSN is PopetheRevXXVIII and PopetherevJP (JPSN I only use for downloading JPSN games)
What time? I'm having a Mario Kart 8 party at 7PM Central (streaming at twitch.tv/xxhennersxx) I can plan before that (off work at 4PM)
Totally is. However it's clear that Gohan came of age just fine and the world (and other planets) needed saving. The average deadbeat dad is simply a loser who is selfish but obviously this is a fictional universe where normal rules don't apply.
Have you checked out Demon's Souls on the Japanese PSN Store? If not it's free with PS plus speaking of jpn accounts i use it to get mostly ps1 titles that we've never got over here, outta interest.
I got Winds of Thunder, Donpachi, Dodonpachi, Harmful park, Asuka 120% final, and Gunner's Heaven off JPSN. True, in the real world Child Services would have taken Gohan away the second Goku died the first time.
