go ahead and add me, i might be on later tonight after everyone leaves the party. Plus whenever I'm on, that and GT6 are what I've been playing on my PS3 lately.
There really isn't much I can recommend when it comes to the newest anime, most of it doesn't interest me. However, Mushishi's second season is fairly good. If you're into Japanese mythology and folklore, check it out.
What about Sword Art Online? I really liked that one, at least up to ep. 14, then it changed quite a bit, it was still good but not as great as before. Also Attack On Titan is great.
am I the only person on Earth that doesn't care for Attack on Titian? I feel like I'm the only person that started watching it, found it a bit predictable and said fuck it after a few episodes. It was Chrono Crusade all over again.
Not many new series that are really worth watching... AoT is good but its unnecessarily grim and gory at times, and the ending sucks more than FMA's original series. Killlakill well I don't know what the fuck is going on half the time, but it has a lot of fanboys for sure. Mirai Niki is this decade's Elfen Lied though less hardcore and with even dumber support characters, but same crazy bitch with pink hair. Magnetic Rose is awesome, Stink Bomb is kinda meh still good for a few laughs The avant garde-style third act with its orwellian message though gets old pretty fast IMHO had MR been made into a full movie instead of a short it could've been one of the crowning achievements of animation Yeah I wonder why its so popular.... ............headphones maybe? Agreed, as for the anime industry, seeing how the japanese gaming studios have devolved into a cottage industry of weird shit like naked bathtime fight simulators meant only for the local market I'm inclined to believe that the same BS is happening with anime and studios prefer to produce the same cheap garbage for their little corner of the world than get more fans abroad like before.
Not really into anime anymore, but these are some of my favourite series: Cowboy Bebop, Hellsing Ultimate, Kara no kyoukai, Fate-Zero, Noir, Stein's Gate, .hack//sign, Witch Hunter Robin, Ghost in the Shell SAC and the new Arise series... Post Apocalypse Daniel despises Bleach/Sword Art Online and if he could go back in time he would strangle the past version of himself for watching that junk
I love Magnetic Rose and Stink Bomb. I just think Stink Bomb is funny, and the animation is pretty good too. It's a good mix of science and military stuff, as well as just a ridiculous story. It's not very believeable, but that's not really the point. Nobuo is such an idiot - it's hard to imagine how a person could be so fucking clueless. It also doesn't make sense why they didn't make more of an effort to communicate with him - megaphones, giant billboards, anything - rather than trying to kill him. Still, I was willing to suspend my disbelief for the sake of comedy. But yeah, I agree that Cannon Fodder was the weakest of the three. I appreciate that Otomo was trying to do something different, but it just wasn't as good as the others. I don't really like the soundtrack of that film - it's very strange. I loved the music of the other films, and I like the music during the credits. It's cool how they transition from Cannon Fodder to the credits.
Also not a fan of newer anime, my favourites are; Neon Genesis Evangelion Berserk Battle Angel Alita Ghost in the shell BubbleGum Crisis Cyber City Oedo DevilMan Fist of the North Star Cowboy Bebop Vampire Hunter D Wicked City Patlabor Appleseed Angel Cop Black Magic M-66 Crusher Joe Demon City Shinjuku Golgo 13 MD Geist Violence Jack Dominion Tank Police Armitage III Doomed Megalopolis Goku Midnight Eye Ninja Scroll Parasite Dolls Iria Zeiram Genocyber Anyone got any good Cyberpunk/scifi/horror recommendations I haven't listed, not so new preferably?
You listed all the classics. I can't think of any good Cyberpunk but there is a new Ghost in the Shell floating around.
Other than the ones I already mentioned, I think Roujin Z is pretty good. It's been a while since I've seen it, but I remember enjoying it. It's pretty funny, and the animation is good. I like almost anything Katsuhiro Otomo does, although I was a little underwhelmed by Steamboy.
Like you mentioned in the post, a lot of animes are full of this shit now. Now it's just bouncing tits and jiggling asses wrapped around a very vague story, but with the sonico animation there's a few parts which are quite a laugh.
