I also have stuff that I can't release for various reasons, it's not like I'm a hoarder or anything. It's not our place to shit on someone because they're concerned about releasing something touchy. You never know the circumstances involved, a lot of people don't like to burn their bridges.

Like I said, even an in depth video should be enough to tame most people's curiosity.

About soul reaver 2 in french

A guy worked for Eidos :

The Manager of the french magazine "Dreamzone":

-On utilisait ce qu'on avait sous la main (import US, japonais, version éditeur, etc

This two guys tell me to try in UK.

I talk whit some collector about a E3 version of soul reaver2...

I m not so sure now if a physical build of soul reaver 2 must be exist ...

    Translation:

    - For Eidos I was in charges of the thematic services (we were 3/4) game-help, contests, various and diverse informations ;)

When Betas were making the rounds, I was the first to have one (or not far from the first... our corner was full of CyberPress journalists) especially for sega consoles (I may have played and finished the first Tomb Raider on Saturn more than the technical staff of course) I don't recall a Dreamcast Beta. I don't recall an Eidos or Crystal Dynamics beta with those colors and logo as there were on the picture for that game like another Eidos game. [FG note: This end of sentence is confusing even in french, I think he means he didn't see any DC beta with the same colors/logos as some others Eidos games, I could be wrong]

The manager of the french magazine "Dreamzone":

    - We were using what we had on hand (US import, japnese, editor's version, etc.)

Just saw Xceleration mentioned on the previous page. This started out life as Ultim@te Race Rally (a sequel to Ultim@te Race Pro), which I've tried (unsuccessfully) to locate a copy of the PC version. It then evolved to Xceleration and was eventually actually released on Dreamcast as 4 Wheel Thunder, using the Midway Thunder license.

I've managed to acquire a copy of the unreleased PC version of it, incidentally.

I make enough money these days I'd be willing to front for some fancy beta to rip and release with donations to cover it after the fact. If that sort of thing is still kosher around here. I've already released some stuff without compensation because the best way to create a backup is to let the internet mirror it for you.

Hopefully, my join date/post count/feedback thread will render people willing to trust me. Anyone with any betas they'd like to part with but don't want to release for reasons but are OK with seeing released should PM me.

Hate to say it but the golden age of DC betas surfacing is likely over. I have a feeling we may find more stuff like Deer Avenger from time to time but I'm guessing a lot of stuff began and ended like System Shock 2 (barely functional port), Ecco 2 (ground work laid down, some levels set out, but hardly a product to go gold with), or maybe even Geist Force.

Some games like Max Payne and Black and White likely were announced and never really started. I have seen 0 evidence either of those were anything but announcements but holy damn would I love to be wrong, I love being wrong because it usually means great things are afoot.

I'd really like to see Agartha reach the public but I'm sure that's not too likely. Tony Hawk 3 isn't likely to see the light of day if there was ever any work done on it in the first place.

What about that copy of DC Castlevaina on a BASF CD-R that was supposedly sold on a French site? Was that ever proven to be bull or is it still a mystery?

Black and White was quite far into development, Dreamcast Magazine (UK) even had dev diary. I don't think anything was ever done on Max Payne, a member of the original developer said so himself..

    Black and white dreamcast:

"Wasn’t playable and it was a headache to get it onto dreamcast"

"Build was shit and to continue would have meant a lot of money and time wasted...."

    Bad new T-T

Agartha is probably my holy grail of DC unreleaseds, and that's saying quite alot. Love the story behind it.

I won't ask for a release, but if there's ever a public fundraiser, I'm in.

I'd love to know if there are any more copies of 'Take The Bullet' in collectors' circles? We know that's at least 1 from the old posts on the DreamcastHistory forums.

You can add me to the "would love to know" list. I was incredibly excited when that recent footage was shown.

I forgot about that! Does anyone think there might be a way to get this and the Colin Mcrae demo released? What was the situation with the owner? (I've honestly forgotten, it's been so long!) Any kind of public release aside, do we know if they are at least backed up?

Highly unlikely tbh, I was asking Tom from the Dreamcast Junkyard about this guy a while ago and he said that he's actually an ex-SEGA UK employee who rescued these discs back in the days without anyone knowing, so he's very secretive about them and afraid of getting into legal trouble if any of this stuff leaks to the public, although in the case of Colin McRae Rally 2.0 I can't really understand his attitude. I mean it's essantially just a small Demo version, so an online release wouldn't really trigger any legal repercussions from Codemasters or Sega....
