Whenever I load a video it takes between 5 and 15 seconds to start playing. It's not because of my Internet connection (I have around 95mbps) and the rest of the world wide web works perfectly fine, including other video sites such as vimeo. Also it does NOT load the video during those few seconds, it's simply "stuck" (at 0:00 without preloading) and after sometimes a very long time (up to 15 seconds) it'll start playing and load normally - really fast, that is. Just takes forever to start. Is anyone else experiencing this problem right now? I only noticed it the first time a few days ago and it's really starting to piss me off
Oh damn, was hoping you were posting on why YouTube videos will pause randomly at around 10-20 mins on some videos and never do anything. I have to refresh it and seek where it left off, incredibly annoying. As for your problem, I am not experiencing it fortunately. Could it be that Flash or one of your Ad-Blocking plugins (if you use one) has updated? Maybe it is trying to show an ad at the beginning of the video and there is some conflict? Could just be YouTube's end.
It happened to me too. My guess is that youtube is running out of bandwidth from all the HD commercials its now broadcasting
What HD adds? All the adds I see are in SD (360p). I have no issues with YouTube in this part of the world. Works just as normal on my PC and Android phone however it's completely broken on the 360 while sites such as HuLu and GameTrailers work fine in HD.
Ah nevermind, it was an attempt at humor. But actually I do see HD ads, and in average the ads are in higher resolutions than the videos i actually want to watch. Here I just caught a screenshot of a youtube ad and according to the fullscreen indications it is 720p [/IMG]
I have this issue myself but I blame low power PC crap components. 1.3 GHz 2 core AMD APU proc is NOT the way to go... Hope my new bits are at the post office. I really need to rebuild...
Maybe the ads are really a problem?? But it's still strange becase the videos I watch are very unlikely to be polluted with ads. For example videos of cars with 1000 views or video game stuff with 500 views... but you never know, maybe the ads influence videos without ads as well? I have an adblocker running in the background, but turning it off didn't have any results when I just tried. I don't see any ads on YouTube usually, not a single one, so I can't tell which video has ads and which doesn't.
My mac is quite fast ,but I still have been having hiccups with youtube since yesterday. My most used computer is my macbook pro in osx partition. Full specs: Processor: 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7 Memory: 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 512 MB
So do all you guys having issues with YouTube all live in the US or Canada? It's been on the BBC Tech news show, Click, quite a lot about providers over there slowing down YouTube data. Like I said, there's no issue at all over here. Everything works like it always has done.
I've had problems with YouTube in the past, but it's been fine lately. The one thing it does that annoys me is that when you select a higher resolution mode, it doesn't immediately switch to that mode. It continues playing the video at the current resolution while it loads the higher res version. I guess they do this as a way of making it seem like it isn't loading so much. But I would rather just wait for the HD version to load than watch the SD version - that's why I clicked the damn HD button. If I'd wanted to watch the SD version, I wouldn't have clicked the HD button.
For several days I have exactly the same problem, I suspect that the problem lies with the flash player. Not so long ago my system download the updates, and then the problems started with YouTube.
i've been having this same thing ever since the new flash player. (im in finland.) same goes for pretty much every other thing too that relies heavily on flash (realtime content on sites) everything gets stuck for ages, until it randomly loads afterwards... i've been dicking around with flahs settings for a good while now but it doesnt get fixed :/ propably just gonna roll back and see if that does it. on a side note, it might just be youtube too, because im using HTML5 in youtube when available and it still b0rks all the time (not that the HTML5 of youtube is stable anyway, but yeah, annoying)
I upgraded my flash from Adobe 32 bit to 64 bit for the Minecraft game rendering. Have the latest version ATM. Didn't do a single thing to change YouTube shitty video playback...
ISP's are throttling it these days (even at off peak times). The other week Virgin Media did it and acknowledged youtube is one of the websites they really shouldn't.
The same as the OP said about the video being stuck at 0:00 for a few seconds before starting to play happens to me, and it's not becase of my internet connection neither.
The only problems I have with YouTube is when trying to change the resolution to something higher, it won't play the video until I refresh the page. Also if I try to fast forward, it stops playing the video.
For those of you experiencing issues with ISP Youtube throttling, you can block 206.111.0.0/16 in your firewall settings so that the traffic gets routed through Google's fallback servers instead.
Works with ANY ISP? Even something shitty like Wildblue? I already use the Google public DNS and that fixed A LOT of issues I was having with slow speeds...
