Some people are saying that it is good, but you reach the higher stages rather quickly than anticipated.

But yeh, I thought it doesn't come out until 9/7.

That depends on what you mean by out. Since it looks like it is out the back-door already. And it is the 5. of September.

It was supposed to come out on the 5th of September, but Autstralia started selling it on the first.

It doesn't come out for two more days in the US. Such an odd day to release a new game, on a SUNDAY...

Anyways, I can't wait to get it. I've been checking out the Sporepedia and I have been looking at all the stuff people in Australia have been making on it, once your race becomes civilized you can give them clothes. Most people gave them top hats and monocles. In the Space phase you can give your creatures cyborg parts, too!

All the vehicles people have been making look really detailed as well, probably the most detailed looking stuff in Spore.

I'm interested in it, some parts of it are like an RTS but every unit and building is hand made and fully customisable. I've heard that its been getting reviews ranging from 7,8, and 9, but I still want to try it out.

EDIT: Something I've forgotten to mention

Its also got a music editor. I think this is for making your races national anthem once you get civilized, but it may be for other stuff. The music will play whenever you are in your town and stuff.

Someone's already hacked it and played it on BitTorrent.

Not gonna tell ya where to get it, but it's been done.

(AND NO! I DO NOT HAVE IT VIA BITTORRENT. I DON"T HAVE THE SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS TO PLAY IT)

Oh yeah, Karsten, the system requirements are rather low, due to it having lots of procedural generation.

I can't quote the exact specs because certain websites aren't working for me at the moment...its DSL-like BS all over again.

It's a Gateway Laptop. 1.4GHz Celeron and integrated video, 512mb ram, and I've got Linux on it.

Where is my 360 port???? :-(

Those specs aren't too beefy - although the 6 gig required space is a little much.

I just got it. I might have to wait till tomorrow evening to play it though.

The general consensus on other gaming sites, however, is that its a casual game thats split into 5 minigames, but everything is totally user made, and that the editors are the best part of the game. Its safe to say EA will more than likely make 50 expansions for it as well to make it similar to the 2005 Spore Will Wright showed us. But IMO its not really THAT different. Sea mode was taken out, but I think that was it.

Oh, and your creatures, once they get civilized, can wear clothes, and during space mode you unlock robot clothes and futuristic space man clothes for them.

On a different subject, I'm surprised this game got a rating of E10. Not talking about violence, but if your race is primarily Religious rather than military like, the vehicles you make in Civ mode are propaganda machines, and they shoot out holograms of your creature doing the "Heil Hitler" salute thing...even though Religious Civilizations in the game don't kill people.

I just started messing around with the vehicle editor. In my opinion, the editors themselves are REALLY fun to mess with. I made a mech with more guns than...something with a lot of guns!

I'm getting it ASAP, is by far the biggest most innovative game in years!

About the SysReq, it does seem too low, but then again when Spore was unveiled my PC specs were mid/high-end, while today it peaks with Bioshock:-(

This will probably be the last new game I'll play with this PC...

I just looked at it on Amazon to price check, and out of 100 something reviews, it has 1/5 stars, all citing DRM and not the actual game? WTF is up with that? Is it starforce or rootkit shit or something?

any chance we ll be seeing SPORE on any other platform besides the PC? I detest the PC for modern gaming.

Nope. They dumbed it down really badly. It's nothing more than the sims with monsters. So much for procedural AI and such.

Plus is has shitty drm, so fuck it.

Being an EA game, it presumably has the 3 activation limit. Go over that limit, and you need to phone EA and pray they give you more activations. The same system they used in Mass Effect. Sorry EA, I don't pay full price for rentals.

Pay for full price for a game you can rent for months, if not years, at a time?

I don't see why anyone gets their panties in a twist over crap like that.

Anyways, I played the game earlier. I haven't played the Sims, but my mom has. Calling it Sims with monsters proves all you've done is read someones biased review or have barely played the game. Seriously. Isn't the Sims just a family simulator anyway? Unless you are talking about Civ mode, thats more like Sim City, and even still, its about taking over the world. I'd like to see how Spore and the Sims compare, other than them being made by the same guy.

I take the graphics with a grain of salt, and thats about the only thing I see "bad" about it. I suppose I got hyped for it a little, but I haven't been disappointed.

Cell phase was actually more fun than I thought it would be. Its really similar to Flow for those who have played it.

Creature mode is really restricting at first, but I did have fun leading packs of creatures into enemy nests and killing and eating everything in sight later on.

Tribal mode is like an RTS, and so is Civ mode.

I've barely started tribal, and I hear that UFO mode is the best part of the game.

I think I've liked my experience more because of my awesome creature.:icon_bigg

By the way, Barcode, Spore is going to the Wii, DS, and there are even talks of it going to the 360 and PS3.
