the Wii and DS versions aren't ports, merely gaidens of sort leeching off the franchise name. A Ps3 version is questionable, considering the 256MB of RAM bottleneck on the PS3 for general memory. A 360 version would certainly interest me, especially if they decide to fucking support a mouse and keyboard setup because I m fed up! Even the PS1 had a mouse! come on!
Because pirates don't have to deal with it, whereas people like us who actually buy games do. It doesn't prevent piracy, it doesn't prevent games appearing on torrent 48 hours before release. If it was preventing piracy, then I could understand why they use it... as it is, it exists merely to convince a bunch of boardroom executives that they're 'taking steps to combat piracy', so they can stick their head in the ground over the fact that the current generation of consoles has slowly displaced the PC.
Just checking some of the issues with secuROM, these fucktards at EA are giving me reasons to turn into a pirate... I've an idea to reduce piracy: stop messing with the legal gamers EA! What? this thing runs on a 2003 PC, what rig you have anyway?
The copy protection on it is BS. I refuse to even consider paying for it now. If I buy something I should be able to use it for a period of time and resell it later if I wish. I dont want to only be allowed to use it a few times then be screwed. You wouldnt pay 20000 for a ford focus if you could only drive it 50k would you? sure 50k might last you 10 years if you dont drive alot, but if you drive long distances or something your car would hit 50k in a matter of a couple years
More like you would be the only one able to drive said Focus, and you cant sell it to anyone else later.
You can call EA for more installs anyway...I'll just not uninstall Spore, simple as that. Anyways, I've had lots of fun with it. I put the difficulty all the way up because of stuff I've heard. I died a lot in creature stage, but mainly because I was trying to unlock all the parts and get DNA.
Well considering how little time it takes for a windows install to become corrupted, coupled with how often PC gamers change their rigs, I'll say having spore installed indefinitely is near impossible. Plus I hate having to ask tech support for what by right is mine...
I finally got to Space Mode. Personally, I liked all the modes except for creature mode...but that was mainly because at first its unbelievably restrictive at first, and it makes it hard to make a creature (unlike the CC which gives you all the parts all the time). I do like that you can start at any phase with any creature in your sporepedia once you beat that phase. Tribal and Civ phases, to me, were really fun. Space Mode is fun so far, I love abducting creatures and throwing them on other planets to see if they live or die. I hear Space mode gets really interesting when you unlock all the parts. I've been playing the entire game on hard mode, so far my creatures have been agressive militaristic carnivores, so I got lots of bonuses when it comes to killing stuff. What you do in some phases will get you certain abilities in others. For example, if you kill all the tribes in tribal mode your creatures get really powerful nukes in Civ mode. They are a real blast to use! Bad pun intended.
I've never managed to be able to terraform any planets fast enough to develop colonies before everybody in the galaxy decides to attack me. Space is fucking unrelenting.
Seriously. Space gets on my nerves, I have like 4 or 5 empires that want me dead, and I can't do anything without my home planet getting raided. BTW, do these empires have home planets that you can blow up to get them off your back or take over them, or do you have to go colony by colony? It might be cheaper just to pay them to stop attacking me, and then ally with them, and set up a trade route with them to boot. All my neighboring systems hate me, its making getting Spice hard as hell. And my home planet is down to one city left...
Its AI, but its using stuff other people made. It uses whats already in your Sporepedia, in fact, most of the things I've been fighting have been the creatures I made with the editor... Anyways, I'm starting to get the hang of Space mode. Making alliances and trade routes makes it a LOT easier. I still have tons of Empires that want me dead though. Another cool feature is that when you are allied, you can request one of your allies to attack another empire for you. I might do that, so I can finally be at peace and trade spice without fear of getting attacked.
Yeah. I told one of my friends about it at work and he said "haha what a Dune ripoff" but its actually more of a homage / parody. Every Sci-Fi cliche from everything ever is in Spore...theres even some Spaceballs in-jokes in there as well, such as the atmosphere sucker machine. And the fact that some of my houses are spheres. Speaking of Space mode, I've been playing it all night. I believe I have it licked now, I managed to get the empires who were attacking me to give up their war with me after I took over a few of their solar systems. I allied with one, but one of them just had to be obliterated, because they constantly attack my allies. For most of the night I've been terraforming these 3 planets that are rich in rare expensive spice, which is Pink spice. Blue spice is worth a lot as well, to some colonies. Since then I've gotten almost every UFO upgrade. Its pretty fun when you aren't getting attacked every 4 seconds. There are some cool tools, one of them allows you to tweak creatures on planets with the editor (Change them how you want them to look), and a tool that allows you to make creatures Godzilla size just for looks. You could probably use those godzilla creatures on hostile planets to occupy cities and watch the chaos, which would also be fun. I finally got the Nuke bombs for my UFO, so now I can finally solo space without fear.
Let's not all crap on this game, this game has some technological feats that are amazing, the procedural painting is absolutely beautiful. The creature creation is mind boggling. The fact you can create something and it moves it no matter how you design it, is just insane. There's some amazing programming feets that I know most gamers don't discuss, but this game will change the way we think about future games and development. Great job Spore... One small step for gamers, one giant leap for the game development community Jeff.
The creature creator was awesome, the rest of it wasnt so awesome. Its a good game, but just doesnt reach the great margin in my terms. Hopefully a port will inc new features. And I'm not talking about new arms and stuff >.>
