I bet expansions will do one or two of the following: More parts for all editors More stuff for UFO mode By the way, did anyone else notice that vehicles and buildings look terrible outside of the editors when up close? And yes, I checked my graphics settings. There might be a .ini file that could be tweaked, or it could be the procedural painting for them not being that good...
I doubt they'll make a retarded expansion like that. I bet its going to be new parts. I'm not really sure what new features they could add to Space mode already though. Lots of people wanted to see underwater areas and amphibious creatures though.
Getting the game tomorrow, cant wait! I agree the game represents a revolution, specially in a generation that seemed like the old one but with better graphics.
Mr. Casual since you have the legal (I believe) game. Then you can still download a ton of awesome new monsters made with the creator. And you can also download the startrek stuff and etc. from Demonoid.
I know that already:110: I've seen some really cool stuff out there, and surprisingly enough on my galaxy exploits, I have yet to find planet penis. About the only thing I haven't done in Space mode yet is defeat the Grox or reach the center of the Galaxy. BTW, the epicizer item is awesome, it makes creatures GIANT and deadly. I dropped a bloodthirster creature I made near a city, epiced it, and it went into the town destroying everything. All the citizens were screaming and running around.:icon_bigg
You can actually do that already. I finally unlocked the create creature item for UFO mode, but I was disappointed to find out you couldn't load something from your Sporepedia into it.
I'm not buying it until the DRM/rootkit shit is fixed or I can get it for a good price. I am about to play it though...
A friend of mine pirated the game and I played it last night on his PC. Amazingly good game, I might be considering it later on if I upgrade my PC. (I have a Radeon 9800Pro AGP card with 128MB VRAM and 1280MB of RAM)
I deleted the torrent. I thought about it and EA is bullshit but Maxis isn't. I don't want to punish Maxim for EA's stupidity. I'll just wait for the price to go down and the drm to go. If you think about it, Windows has just as stupid DRM, I guess, so does Xbox Live content.
Man, I wish you could interact with aliens and stuff more DIRECTLY in Space mode. I don't have hologram scout yet, but its taking forever to get. I think Spore should, maybe in an expansion, give more depth to Space mode, like giving your creatures defensive fleets so your home planet doesn't get raped while you are on the opposite side of the Galaxy (not just 3 guys who circle around you), better fights in Space, bigger ships (like bosses) and more dynamic Space fights, rather than fighting on planets. Also, being able to board large enemy cruisers with a Squad of your creatures with weapons for them you can make in the editor or whatever would be a cool idea as well. The idea being, it would be less wasteful to take over a huge 100 million dollar enemy cruiser than to destroy it. Also, I'd like to see some sort of infantry option in Civ mode or Space mode, rather than the godlike ships. I don't know how easy it is to mod Spore, but if someone modded this in or put it in an expansion I'd love it.
Been the last 3 days playing it, heres my opinion: The game is great, but as kevin said, is too easy: I went from cell to space in like 6 hours. It all depends on how you play though, if you go all agressive/military as I did is too easy, while the other options are harder. The problem is that it doest get more challenging that way, just more boring, with more unnecesary actions and shit. But then it gets complicated, playing space mode is great but its HUGE: you actually have to make your way into the center of the galaxy, with hundreds of stars and thousands of planets. The closer you get to the core the more difficult it gets, since due to gravity wells (like in Homeworld) you can only jump through starts that are close enough, and then theres the Krog empire which is really agressive and strong too, they'll kick your ass. Anyway, I think the entire game was built around space mode, while the whole evolution part is just filling. Kinda like they wanted to make a really advanced version of SimEarth, but thought it wasnt enough. It felt a lot like playing Homeworld, except that is way bigger. What I think is cool is that the learning curse isnt as high as it was in HW, were you had to loose a lot until you catch up with the gameplay, and even then the campaign was tough. I'm just glad the game has an ending per se, instead of SimCity were the only end was when you got fired from your city.
As I said, since the "Real" game is Space mode, I hope most expansions aren't JUST new clothes and parts, and stuff that makes Space mode more fresh and exciting. Space mode, to me, has gotten a little bit tedious, but then again I dont have the scout ability yet.
