Mine's a PAL model 2 I bought for £25 after literally going across the country to find one (though that's just to sound more dramatic, it's only only 50 miles or so). I do like it, though a lot of the best games are pretty rare and expensive so I don't play it as much as I'd like to.
If that Model 1 is still there, I'm going to buy it today. All of their Sega Saturns are $39.99 a piece. The next closest shop that sells these sells it for $60 and they only have a Model 2. So I've made up my mind.
Well I went in and all that they had were Model 2s. And only 2 left. I didn't buy either of them because most threads that talk about disc swapping say its really hard to do so with the Model 2 since it has no access light. I bought a 32x attachment for my Genesis instead. Only $15 w/o cords. (For some reason thats the only way they had 32x's) Now I just need to get cords for it. My assumption is to just ebay the cords. I called another local game store about 40 mins away and they said they have a power cord for the 32x for $10, but not the video cord that goes from the 32x to the Genesis.
The video cable that links the 32X and Megadrive is the one that's hard to get. I don't know about other international variations (I'm guessing it's the same but you never know), but I have a European Megadrive (so, Genesis) and a modded US 32X, and the video cable that goes to the tv is the same as the one that comes with the Megadrive 2, so that one's not really a problem, but that small cable from the MD to the 32X is unique. The one I have isn't even an official one, it's one that had been made as spare because the previous owner lost the original one. And honestly I have no idea how you're supposed to get a genuine one except by buying a complete 32X. I've never seen anyone selling this cable by itself... So, good luck, although you can still have one made like the one I have, keep in mind it probably won't be the same quality as the real one (although that also depends on who exactly builds the cable). Edit : ok actually scratch that, turns out quite a lot of ebay sellers are selling brand new ones for nothing. I was more talking about original cables anyway but it seems that unofficial replacement cables are ultra easy to find so, disregard all of the above...
