Hello. So, I have a question about save games on Xbox. I bought GTA Vice City, but it's in german language. I plan to buy it in english, but I don't know if saves from german version will work in english ver. Do anyone know that? If not, it's not worth playing...
I would think the games save the same either way. The game is a media that runs separate from your save file. I think it should be fine.
...i.e. don't grab the US version. Btw, have you tried changing your console's language? Not sure about GTA but a lot of games switch ingame languages accordingly.
I was kinda worried, because game save's name was in german, but I think it won't be a problem. I changed console's language, but game's language was still german. Maybe it's because this is censored version (there is no blood!). Anyway, thanks for helping guys!
i have the feel it wont work, the uncensored PAL PS2 versions are multilanguage and have different SLES numbers, so the saves are not compatible. Guess its same for xbox.
I didn't test it yet but here are my thoughts: - GTA Savegames [at least on PC] are usually not compatible once the main.scm (which is the mission script) is changed and will result in crashes. The cut version doesn't offer the Rampage missions. So if they did that through the main.scm in the Xbox version it won't work - GTA does store a "last mission" String as the name of the savegame. However, this is only for display purposes in the menu - Xbox Savegames are stored in folders named by the Title-ID. So if the different releases use different Title-IDs, then the game won't find the other savegame - If you can switch between versions [= savegame compatible] it could mean that the Rampage missions might not be playable or you can't reach 100% or possibly more than 100% It's worth to note that Vice City is extremly easy compared to GTA3 and somewhat shorter than San Andreas. So it only takes a couple of hours to play through the game again.
There are a few things that will stop saves working from different regions/consoles. XBL Code, this is unique to each console. HDD key, again unique to each console. Region locked, ie uses different save directory or code checks. Most savegame will work from console to console, but a few won't work from region to region. Also later games used the XBL Key or the HDD key to lock saves to that specific console. Forza & Burnout 3 are two of quite a few that use the above & there own save encryption.
