Yeah, I'm using a Mac and it also creates a bunch of folders/files only viewable on the Dreamcast itself

In windows, you just have to turn off the "hide important files" in the folder view. You can then delete the junk and then unplug the hard drive out before it adds its back in.

But I may try rocky's batch file out just for easiness.

Thats what I was doing, but got sick of it lol, I use a small command line app to do the unmount instead of windows built in command, as it has issues unmounting the drive if you were doing something with it. (Drive is in use error)

I have mine in my Rocketdock so when I'm done I click it & its unmounted & ready to go.

    YOU WERE RIGHT...

The bank would not let him have the money even though he knew the materinal name I used.
He said that he received 15 payments from USA customers and not one of them had to use a maternal name.
He asked me why my WU locations were being so strict and such.
SO he gave me the materinal name (his) and I called WU and changed it over the phone.
Took about 10 mins. Was pretty easy.
But now I have to wait nearly 17 hours again for him to get back to the bank as it is 11pm by him.
This has to be the hardest transaction ever...

Since mine has not shipped yet. I also asked about this BUG.
I asked if mine would ship with the same bug and if i had to wait for a new firmware.

His response was - it is fixed - yours will shipped fixed.

I am not a script person....

But perhaps a script file can be created that will create the folder structure in those pics..
    Remove the junk.
then allow you to point the drive to your Dreamcast files and copy them in ABC order and put them in the right folders automatically.
Make the entire process super simple. Point the Script to your DC folder and it makes a drive for you and copys everything over?

    Possible?

Regarding the need to clean directories from the USB.

When you write a file lister you should not display directories/files which have the hidden attribute set.

    C:\>attrib "System Volume Information"
    SH C:\System Volume Information

So the loader application should just skip these hidden/system files.

Adding the stuff into the directories is simple, and imho not worth the time of a script.

Create all the folders, and drag all your games into same folder. Then just shift click groups of folder and drag them where they need to go.

I did write scripts to clean up all my files names, and move files up a directory etc. I did this scripting in coldfusion though, but it pertains more closely to the gdi set I have. Its not universal.

OK here it is, you can change the destination & source folder in the Config.ini. They default to DC Games & Games.

It only looks 1 folder down, so your games should be like so.

    DC Games\4 Wheel Thunder
    DC Games\4x4 EVO
    eg....

I finally did get an email back from memo and he told me to please wait as this is a beta test. So I guess you guys that have one are the testers! It sounds like he does plan on making more. I had a pre order for a GDEMU from Duenan and when he requested payment I checked this thread one more time to see if anything new popped up and sure enough this usb adapter came along. So someone on the waiting list will get mine. Ive always wanted a USB solution. I hope someone will come along and create a nice menu for the usb adapter. Being able to browse covers would be amazing.

I would say Deunans board is the better option. No known bugs or problems at all, loads amazingly quick and is a perfect 'plug and play' solution. (no cutting up your Dreamcast required lol).

With Deunans board you can browse 'disc art' by going into the cd player option from the home menu which will display the disc art of the current game - simply press the button on the board to select the next game and it will change the disc art to show which game is next to load.

I think there both great options with the + and -.

I had a GDEMU for 2 days and resold it for the USB one from MNEMO.

The SDCard is fast and there are no known problems, but we are talking SDcards. They are expensive, small, easy to loose, hard to put into the machine, a physical button to press to select games and lastly no real menu (though that software menu is pretty close and great to use)/

The MNEMO is USB, allows a lot more storage, easier to access and plug in, cheaper solution and allows muptle solutions. (USB Pen drive, Hard drive and I wonder if a USB to SD adapter would work, I would say yes)
So what are the drawbacks? Not many people have it, newer product and has shown to have a bug already. But according to MNEMO that bug was squashed in one day. SO he seems pretty fast. Next you have
the cutting of your case, Sure - I don't mind this because it does look pretty professional and with a VC1 DC costing $25 or less - I bought one with a Bad GDROM drive just to put the GDEMU into. Lastly it has
a real easy menu interface and you can select your game from your controller. I Like that feature the best. I am sure someone will make something better to skin or load over it.

Lets also compare the developers. THe both are in Europe, but language barrier don't seem to be that bad and both seem to answer questions.
It seems a majority of people wanting this do speak English and both are able to communicate fairly well.
One has email only and rarely answers where Mnemo seems to be very good at answering people and getting back to them (at least for me).
One accepts paypal and the other does not (MNEMO) at the moment.

I would say both devices are about the same price 110 euro vs 130 euro - Sure the USB is 20 euro more but I think it is worth it.

I really think that both are great devices, (though I do not have my USB one yet). I wouldn't say that one is SUPERIOR over the other just yet. IF more bugs pop up I might tend to agree, but you have to remember, Deunans is up to Version 5 already, he has done a couple of runs already. Sure his device is solid, but MNEMO seems to be very solid and only shown one bug, he really is still on his first release it is only been a few weeks now where the other SDversion is a couple of months.

In the end, I wish I could own both and perhaps I will eventually. I am choosing to go USB. (MENEMO) for now.

I also plan on trying out and or buying some of the other boards in development when they come out.
If Mario and the other guys here finish there's and offer it for sale, I am always game to buy one - worse comes to worse I eBay it or even eBay one of the other ones I have and replace it with someone else's GDEMU.
My GDEMU SD Version sold in 3 hours of me listing it, I made $4.00 profit on it. I bought it for $180 USD shipped to me (privately) and sold it for $213 on ebay - after fees and shipping I ended up with $184.03 or something.
I was not looking to make money just recover what I bought it for 2 days before so I can pay Mnemo.

I've been testing MNEMO's board extensively and I have not had one bug or issue at all!

Yeah no bugs bar the crash on 3 games.

But that's the joys of buying beta devices & I'm finding the bugs he's fixing then so when you get yours it works 100%

MNEMO sent me an email with a YouTube video, of the game crashing & then him updating his USB host firmware & then the game working fine. He said the firmware will take a few days to test & then it's released. (So it doesn't brick devices I would assume)

Only thing it doesn't do is homebrew, or if it does I can't get it working. So bleemcast & other CDI files don't load.

Sure, I kind of mentioned it in an earlier post, the main system I'm using is a Seagate Expansion 1TB USB 3.0 Portable Hard Drive, powered by the USB port on a PAL Dreamcast. That has a complete PAL set of GDI's and the USA and Japan GDI's that where not released in Europe.

I'm basically going through every PAL game GDI one by one, I've also tried several USA and Japan GDI's with no issues.

Also just for testing purposes I also checked to see if it works with USB sticks and USB SD adapters and yes, they work too.

Yeah, I've got the Japan or US version of games that don't have VGA compatibility in PAL, I've not got access to a windows PC at the moment so I've not been able to try patching the PAL games, sound like its a bit hit and miss??
