All my drives are bus powered, bar my Raid enclosure but thats USB3 + power supply & for some reason the GD-USB Controller doesn't detect it :-\.

It done it with my USB 3.0 16GB Pen, but when I optimised the GDI files it worked fine, thats why I thought that was the issue.

I will retry the USB Pen with a few problem files.

Ok recorded a video, it does it with the USB Pen as well.

Just for reference, I'm using a Seagate Expansion 1TB USB 3.0 Portable Hard Drive and the USB port powers it with no problems

I wonder if there is an issue with your console being pal? I know the device is supposed to make everything region free, but perhaps something is going on that mnamo didn't expect in a pal console. It appears in his youtube videos that he tested on a ntsc console. I wonder if the gdi/bin dumps have something funky in them with regions. Just throwing out ideas.

 

Wow what a hassle with getting MNEMO paid for these boards...

I will write my full story for entertainment value....

So - I try to pay MNEMO with western union, with all you other guys here that paid him with WU and got your boards I am pretty trusting that he is legit so I paid him with WU as he would not accept paypal at the moment.
I even offered to send him a paypal personal payment (no fees) and he declined - SO perhaps paypal has locked his account, he was not very forthcoming about why he is no longer accepting paypal.
SO I go to WU website and create an account and go to pay him using my CC on line and I found a code for 1/2 off the Xfer fee which was $34!!!! so it was only $17 with the code.
I get declined once, then twice, then figure I need to use my full name XXXXXXXXXXX in stead of my short name XXXXX since they did not allow me to fill in that info from my credit card, they only allowed
me to use the name I registered with. SO I go to edit my name from XXXXXX to XXXXXXXXXXX and they don't allow you to edit your name on WU website once you sign up - but everything else can be edited, Phone, Email ect...
SO I sign up again and use my full name XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXX and then proceed to send him money. Again declined.
Call my credit card company and they tell me it is unusual activity for me to be using WU (which they were right - never used them before). SO I verified my Identity and they unfroze my account and while I was on the phone
Reprocessed the payment and it went through. Great... !!
SO I send MNEMO all the info he needs to pick up the payment - it is 1:44am his time, so he tells me he will get back to me when they open and he can get there.
So I go to bed.
I wake up at 3:44am my time and i see a message from MNEMO that the WU was canceled.. now First thing I am thinking is am getting scammed.
I check WU website and the transaction seems to be there.
I check my Credit card and it shows processing still.
Call my credit card company and they say it is still pending.
Call WU at like 4am. and they tell me it was indeed canceled.
I ask why..
They guy at WU says it is only a guess, but you used a credit card and out security canceled the transfer as something was not right in the verify of the information.
I tell the guy, I had issues making the payment and had my CC company on the phone to allow the payment to go through so there should be no issues.
he says, ok, but we have our own security department and we want to cut as much fraud as possible, so there was an issue with verifing the info you entered and the info on your card.
I said - it was all correct.
he said - do you have a middle initial on your card....
I said Yes.
he said well we don't have a spot when you sign up on the site for a persons middle initial.
I said I used my full name - XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX and full last name XXXXXX
I did not use the short version of my name - (like a person who is named jonathan using john or something like that - or michael using MIKE) - You get the idea...
So he said - well even though we do not have a Middle initial box you still need to use it.
I said so How do I do that..
he said - when you put in your first name put a space and then your middle initial. XXXXXXXXXXXX X XXXXXXX - you get the idea guys....
SO I said - is there a way to reprocess the payment or get it unfrozen or uncanceled.
he said we can try but I need your CC on the phone as well for a 3 way.
So I put him on hold.. call my CC company, verify myself, explain the story and reason for them to be on the phone and then conference them in.
Now we got ME, MY CC and WU.. and after 30 mins of a long conversation that revealed no results it came down to this.
The guy said the transaction was canceled, it will be refunded to my CC In 1-2 business days. And we would have to try a whole new transaction but again no promises it would clear security.
So he said I could sing up for a 3rd account using my first name as XXXXXXXXXXXX X with my middle initial and try it using a new account with the info fully correct.
SO it came down to I didn't want to risk another ton of money on my card being in limbo for days. So he tells me - go use cash at a western union location.
I told him - that is a long drive and the comfort of sending cash from my PC at home is more convenient. Plus now I have to go to my bank on the other side of town and take cash out using my ATM card which has a fee
and then Drive to WU and I don;t have a valid promo code for 1/2 off at the location as the code is ONLINE ONLY so I don't want to pay $34 because your website sucks.
SO He said, I will make you a WU MYWU gold member and give you enough points to make the Xfter free that should cover your gas, time and ATM fee. I agreed and got my info from him and got insctions on how it works.
SO I go back to bed...
I wake up and send MNEMO a message I am going to try to pay him again. I will send him the info when I get back home.
I go to my bank and take tha cash out.
I go to the nearest WU and I walk up to the counter.
The lady was pretty nasty - "what can I do for you?" with a nasty tone.
I said I want to send money.
SHe said Fill out the form...
I said - I was told to give you my MYWU number and all my info comes up.
It even has the info of the person I am sending money to as it was saved to my account by the agent on the phone from the canceled transaction.
SO she puts in my MYWU number and verifys it is me and all my info is there...
So I said I want to send $XXX to that person in my account - the only person I have saved in there MNEMO.
SHe sas "do you know this person?"
I said "not personally"
SHe says "Are you buying something"?
I said Yes...
SHe says "what?"
I said, "really it is none of your business but since it is not a bid deal I am getting a computer board from him."
I then said, "what are all these questions for, I am not getting scammed, there are many people I know who I trust" (hence the opinions of you guys who already go boards) "Who have made a purchase from him" I feel safe and not worried about a scam"
She says" Well I am worried about getting scammed".
I said " excuse me I have a valid GOLD member MYWU account and I am giving you US cash how can you possibly get scammed"
She said "Well I don't want to get in trouble.."
I said "FOr what?"
After that there was really no more interaction she just jumped into the system to try to get me processed and out the door.
She clicks on MNEMOS name info in the pc and then asked med for his MATERNAL NAME...
I said - what do you need that for? I do not have that info, I have his first last name, country, city and phone number. That should be all you need.
She says it will not let me process this any further without his maternal name.
SO I walk away from the desk, try to get ahold of him and hope he answers right away via my phone, and called my wife to hit him up from my pc, yet NO RESPONCE.
So i go outside and I called WU and got a rep on the phone.
Explained the WHOLE STORY TO THEM and asked them why was I not told I needed a MATERNAL NAME.. and they said - you don't need it. FIRST and LAST + Phone number is all you need.
Please put the rep from WU on the phone, I said the lady was not very nice and I don't want an argument over my personal cell phone in a super market.
SO the WU rep said try a different location.
I said will I have the same issue there with the maternal name.. she said- you shouldn't and if they bring it up tell them you spoke to a WU agent and they said to call them but they also said to tell them I do not need one.
So I bring up all the WU locations and there happens to be one only a block away at a local bank.
SO I drive there.
I go in and talk to the nice WU agent / Bank teller and tell her I want to send cash to MNEMO (Give his real name) and she says - even with your GOLD MEMBERSHIP and MYWU account number I still need you to fill out the paper work.
SO I do.
Then they want my License, my SS number and all the info. I was kind of taken back.
Fastest way to send money my ass... this was the most invasive procedure I have ever gone through.
SO Since it was a bank, I complied and gave them the info they wanted. Then she says to me - I NEED A MATERNAL NAME..
I said the WU agent said you do not need that and I do not have that info - he does not have one nor did he give me one.
The WU agent said to call them if you need to..
So the lady was very nice.... SHe said - if you don't have one - lets make one up - just make sure to tell the person picking up the money the maternal name you used along with the pickup number.
I said.. that is a great idea and a fair way to get around this.
So we made up a simple 3 letter last name that I then passed on to MNEMO with the WU pickup transaction number.
I messaged MNEMO when I got home and explained it to him, language barrier and all - he understood and noted all the information.
SO it is 2am his time, I am waiting 8 or 9 hours now to see how this pickup goes.
If all goes well I should have my tracking in less than 12 hrs or so.

Hope you enjoyed my long story about how WU sucks and I hope you all learned from it. Let it be a lesson to those who want to buy from MNEMO and use WU in the states.

tldr; looks complicated to pay a Russian with Western Union. Buyer beware.

 

I paid with Western Union from my PC without a problem. Money was picked up and package shipped easy as pie.

 

I am not saying everyone will have my issues..

But I wanted to share my experience of using Western Union.
It sucked. But I fought through it because I sold my SD GDEMU and I want this USB ONE!
And I want a 3d0 board while I was at it as well...

 

Next time go down to your local 7-11 and send WU that way, oh and bring cash.

 

Had similar probs with Paysafe (a variant of WU) it all comes down to bad luck. Most people make payments and it's all fine, then there are people like you and me who just get plain old unlucky.

In their defence, it's all about money laundering - and think how easy it is to launder money through these kinds places - hence security up the ass. They have to do it... it's the way they operate (and are allowed to operate)

I spent about a month trying to get my Paysafe card to make a payment that I'd already done before (twice) with no problems whatsoever. In the end I had to scan two household bills and send them scans of my ID card and passport. Of course, this didn't fix it - went to make payment after they had it all (and confirmed I was now a trusted member or similar) and it didn't work - this happened, I think, three times - all in a row - same site.

Eventually, it got sorted... but it took ages.

I've used WU before - and, if I've read it correctly, you may still have a problem. The guy at the other end has to present identification to prove he is who he says he is. If you've not used his correct name, he isn't getting the money. But, you can go back and put his correct name in there later... i.e. change it at your end. So the money isn't lost and he can still get paid.

 

The issue in person with cash was the MATERNAL NAME - or maiden name I guess...
I have no clue what a maternal name is. According to MNEMO his ID has his name on it YEXXXXXX GOSXXXXX.
I sent the WU in his name but they asked for a materinal name and that I assume will not be on his ID.
SO the agent said he will probably be ASKED for it as long as he gives the right answer it will probably go through.
I will find out in a few hours when his WU opens.

 

Could someone PM me his Email or a way to contact him about a USB GDROM... the only site i come across has the how to buy section removed and I cant locate the contact me part of the page. comp u are a saint... I would have went nuts on the woman.... happy the 2nd WU rep worked it out for you. Hope all goes well.

 

I contacted MNEMO about my issue & he has recreated it so it's a software issue. (His words)

Will let you all know when the new firmware is out.

It also happened with Metropolis street racer :-( on the intro video. So it's an issue with videos playing.

 

dissapointing to see problems with paying and games not running perfectly :-(

Makes me even more glad I got my hands on the GDemu from Deunan.

I cant seem recreate the issue your having, RockyS, but I am testing as many titles as a can

 

It doesn't happen all the time, 102 Dalmatians & metropolis street racer could work 10 times in a row with no issues & then the next 5 times crash.

It totally random, I recorded that video 4 times as the game refused to crash lol (it crashed so I thought I will record it. 9 resets & 4 videos later it crashed 3 in a row)

The good thing is MNEMO can recreate it & he fixing it.

Also note, most game play perfectly fine, was playing shenmue & number two as we'll with zero issues as well as a load of others.

 

Well, as long as MNEMO can recreate it thats the main thing! keep us updated!

 

Here is a small batch file that will remove the Recycle Bin & System Volume Information folders from your USB Pen/HDD & then unmount it for safe removal.

This is handy for USB-GDRom Controller menu, since you can't stop windows from creating these damn files is messes the look of your menu up. (OCD)

You edit the Config.ini & change your Drive letter to match your own. It also has checks in place so you dont do this to your windows drive.

Changed how the drive is detected, you now need to enter the drives name into the config.ini
So as an example. My UGC HDD is named DREAMCAST, so I enter DREAMCAST after DriveName=

so my config looks like so.

 

I am interested in purchasing one of these SD GDrom replacement boards, but I am a bit confused as there seems to be more than one person making them. Can someone please tell me where I can purchase one, hopefully via Paypal (I am not comfortable using Western Union).
