I did mess up, the bracket for the original gdrom controller mounts to the usb controller and then to the dreamcast. All 4 holes are used to mount the device securely.

No issues, I let it got for about 3 hours tonight.

 

When I was looking at making a GD emulator, I considered using an ATAPI interface chip, but the only ones I could find any public documentation on were old devices from the x2/x4 CD-ROM generation. The later chips seem to have only been sold in large quantities to optical drive makers, and I suspect the docs were only available under NDA.

Ok little update, mine arrived today, well 15mins ago & the address is perfectly fine, so I haven't a bloody clue why parcelforce had it held for 3 days for insufficient address.

Now to test the bad boy. (Like a kid at Christmas lol (really 29))

 

anyone that actually gets answers by mnemo, can you ask him of a rough estimate for a new batch?

 

Nice that it arrived, if you want to really test it you can do the following:

- Ikaruga, boot time and how well it works
- SF Alpha (Zero JP) 3 boot time and does it have any problems
streaming BGM before, during and between fights
- Any WinCE game, possibly with CDDA like Sega Rally 2

And please let us know if you go for USB stick or USB drive ?

Every game I've ever tested with my GDEMU board from Deunan has worked faultlessly. (for several hours at a time)

Still no reply on the USB one.....

 

Ikaruga works with no issues
Sega Rally works with no issues

Using an external 1tb usb 3.0/20 compatible HDD

 

Yeah,I'm loving this thing only issue is I have to convert all the GDI .bin files to .iso so there are no crashes. (just goes back to the dreamcast's dashboard)

Also had to make a batch file to extract, rename, convert & transfer to the external HDD :-D & another one to fix the daft names.

 

The first few games I tried, I didn't have issues with raw gdi files, granted I only tried like 2. I went ahead and did the same thing you did, convert everything to optimized isos. I really only did it just to save space. I'm trying to fit everything on a 1tb drive.

 

I've not had any problems with using just the GDI's, but if it saves space I might do it

Any of you guys have both this new device and the GDEMU? I'm wondering if the speed / loading times is similar between both?

 

I had issues with 101 dalmatians exiting to the dashboard when I tried to skip the intro, after converting to iso no issues now. (so now I'm doing it to all of them, click & wait)
