    Hi(Gh),
    the old releasegroup
STONEARTS ( leader is cenobit ) is back. Look like #stonearts at efnet!
I see a video from stonearts in there runs metalslug 6 and Dolphin B. on a JAP Dreamcast. The speed is by 50-60%, the sound was broken. A good work for emulation! Download the video on efnet

I can?t found anything about this emulation on google.
A fine work and i mean the video is no fake!

What is the story of stonearts? I ask cenobit in channel, he says; we are all freedomfighters ...and so on...he says many many chrappy words like WEED and GRASS and GANJA ....this dude is very funky!

That sounds wonderful, but is there a way one could upload the video online instead of having to take the risk of going in an IRC channel, especially on EFNet?

Is there a risk going in an IRC channel? Lol, my mIRC is on just about 24/7 in a dozen channels...

Yes, it's possible. I recently had my home internet DDOSed in IRC... funny thing is that it was in #assemblerirc...

Do you have auto-accept on for downloads?

    Huh?

It's just the fact that anyone's IP address is visible makes it enough for an attack. That's the way it happened.

IRC protocol is very sensitive to DoS attack.

well not totally surprising seeing as it is a bascially dc with more RAM, but a video would be nice

The difference between Atomiswave and Dreamcast isn't quite as simple as saying that the arcade board has more RAM, though you can't really deny that fact either. I don't keep up to date with this sort of thing, but has anybody managed to find a way of running NAOMI GD-ROM titles on the Dreamcast as that definitely seems possible? Of course, I doubt something on the NAOMI2 like Virtua Fighter 4 or Super Monkey Ball would be possible. Then again, since the basic hardware is still the same I'm not really sure what could be achieved in the right programming hands. Surely if this could be done a lot of NAOMI2-exclusive effects (such as advanced T&L or multiple light sourcing) would suffer, along with losing the 8M+ polygon rates. Maybe it is possible, albeit in a terribly unplayable frame rate?

(Can you tell I'm completely out of my depth here?)

I need to see it running on my own Dreamcast to believe this! It would be to COOL if it is actually true!

This doesn't seem all that unlikely, especially when it's already possible to run Chihiro games on the Xbox (providing they don't require more RAM than the console has, that is). While it's not a platform many show interest for these days, I'd still love to see the Saturn running Titan/STV arcade titles - how about playing System12 software on the PlayStation as well?

Unlikely, System 12 has 4mb of main ram & 2mb of video ram. You could probably work round those with a bit of soldering, but you'd have no sound and long load times.

The more demanding games would run slower too, I'm not sure if you can overclock a console.

To my understanding, you can overclock practically any processor provided the clock sync is on an external pin (ie not internal). Do a google search, almost every console you'd care to name has been overclocked. Apparently it works really well for the Megadrive, it'll go 2 or 3 times stock speed as I recall.

Yes, you can overclock anything that has an external clock, but it doesn't necessarily work.

IIRC you have to boot the megadrive slow and then switch fast later or you get no sound. Some games won't work at all etc. Some megadrives can't be overclocked, I think it depends on which 68000 chip they used. It only works because the chips they used in some consoles were capable of being clocked that high.

So feel free to try overclocking a PlayStation, but anyone that says that it will work without trying it, is naive. You might, for example, have to put faster ram in it to make a difference. Not sure if I've got a system 12 board laying around at the moment to compare it.

Since when can you run Chihiro games on the Xbox? The person claiming to have done so a long while back never provided PoC (Proof-of-Concept) and appeared to be blowing smoke.

i'm pretty sure the atomswave hasn't been emulated at all and your saying the first thing thats going to run it is a dreamcast? i just got done playing an atomswave and this is just laughable.

well atomiswave and dreamcast are very similar, so with the right tricks it might be possible to have games run on a stock dc....maybe...

Just like how people claim the Xbox is similar to the PC, right? We see how far emulation of that has come

The Xbox is essentially built of off the shelf PC hardware. There probably isn't much reason to make an emulator for a console with half of its games library consisting of PC ports...
