The people that DID try didnt do so well though. Similar does not mean the same.

  2. I'm sure it's bullshit. I can't even count all the times I've seen videos online of someone supposedly running something amazing on a Dreamcast. An Atomiswave game being displayed on a television with a Dreamcast in front of it doesn't amount to proof anything.

As for whether it's possible, I don't know. It guess it would require at the very least some memory mapping code as well as some sort of page filing system like Neo4All/AES and the recently released GBA emulators do. Probably quite a few other things; small things, but probably a lot of them and some would be really complicated and difficult to predict, I bet. It may be possible, anyhtings's possible in fact, but I wouldn't hold my breath to see it. Same goes for NOAMI emulation.

NOAMI GD-ROM emulation is actually the least likely of all since NAOMI GD games are not actually run from the disc like a regular Dreamcast game or other disc based video game. What happens is the entire game is loaded into a large RAM bank when the cab is first turned on and then the game runs from memory after that. The wear and tear and repair/replacement costs of a GD drive that had to work 16 hours a day every day in an arcade would totally outweigh the savings of selling games on disc instead of chip.

    ...word is bondage...

The fact many titles for the NAOMI were pre-loaded in their entirety from disc into RAM doesn't mean that Dreamcast ports would be impossible, though I doubt even the best homebrew programmers could find a way round this. However, since the cartridge-based Atomiswave didn't have this problem it's still likely that somebody might achieve this one day. Also, does anybody know more about whether anything on the Chihiro really has been successfully loaded on Xbox, or was this just a cruel hoax? I'm fairly sure the right person could pull this off, along with NAOMI-to-Dreamcast conversions as well...

Sorry for reviving this old beast, but isn't this statement so ironic and telling? Telling us to not be too close minded all the time? Chihiro games on Xbox's are a fact now.. What happened to this video / project?

Yes but I'm not entirely sure it justified bumping this old topic over it.

And even still, in 2007 there was no proof, and in 2013 running is a very loose term, there isn't exactly full compatibility going on regardless.

Yeah, I never actually understood that. Why shouldn't old topics be bumped?
He's talking about me man, it's cool.
Op referred to StoneArts' (a group that I personally know for their bad rip of De La Jet Set Radio) IRC channel that supposedly had a video

If they're trying to revive a topic of discussion that was recent, then sure. Yet 90% of the time it's stupid shit or people saying "Haha you guys were wrong" at a time they probably would have made the same wrong guess. It's not really a discussion and really if there is new evidence about this. It probably would be better to start a new topic of discussion on it and actually cover the new information.
