Great work, Borman. I have also wanted to see more of this game for many years. Glad you were able to find a build so long after the game was canned. I think the game looks pretty good graphically, and I would have been excited to play a polished version if it had been released. The terrain and what you can see in the distance is impressive in scale, and I liked the indoor cave footage. Have you been able to access a world map? I wonder if anyone who worked on the project would be willing to share their stories about it? Also, I have a sizable folder of B.C. images I've collected over the years: Concept Art - http://imgur.com/a/wsbYe Screenshots - http://imgur.com/a/Yz7e7 Demo screengrabs - http://imgur.com/a/ZRlH4
I have many of the images direct from press disks, which is fun I hadnt seen those last demo grabs though. I believe those are from a later build than I have access to. That said, I do have a build with an early map function. These two that I have shown thus far don't have that though.
Borman look! It's that stuff being reported on that you did of stuff! http://www.kotaku.com.au/2015/11/a-cool-looking-xbox-caveman-game-that-never-happened/
I'm happy for you. Always great to finally get your hands on that holy grail. I was also pretty excited for B.C. XBOX and was pretty disappointed when I found out it was canned. Enjoy monkeying around with it! You've been waiting forever.
Great post Borman I completely forgot about this game I remember one of old friends in high school going on about this game for years and it did look great. Had huge potential it's just a shame they never moved it over to the Xbox 360 and kept going with it as it would have been an awesome release. I think the closest possible release like this is the forthcoming Far Cry game which has similar elements going off. As for anyone questioning Bormans community efforts clearly hasn't been here long! He's released plenty of high profile releases over the years sometimes at a loss.
I don't think anyone can doubt his efforts - he's released a LOT of stuff for free and he's done numerous fundraisers... and even they can take time (see the current FUEL fundraiser, as an example) When he can release betas - he does - and when he can't, he explains very clearly why he can't. That's the right approach. I'm just impressed he got so far with this - I do remember reading about his quest to find this game a long time ago... but I have to be honest, I'm never optimistic about these things, mostly because it's so easy for unreleased games to just disappear. A lot of this is about praying someone in the coding team kept onto a copy 'and' they're willing to let someone else see it. Borman seems to produce miracles time and time again... You gotta hand it to the guy!
I'm starting to think Borman may be a truly magical magician. That or he dropped all his points on luck.
By chance do you have a list of titles that you have saved somewhere on your computer that shows what you're looking for? I just wanna see how many titles you're actually after.
Now THAT I would love to see/get my hands on. Didn't someone have a copy a few years ago on here swear I remember a few videos popping up?
Theres a WTB thread somewhere. The titles get harder and harder to find though. A video popped up years ago, but thats about it.
Just re-watched it seemed the game struggled to run past 20fps which is probably why they switched it over to the 360 well that and it was about to come out making the original Xbox old news. Suppose it just depends on the build though would love to see more. There is some more further on in the development process here below not sure if you've seen them? Maybe we should open up a thread. http://archive.beefjack.com/index.html?p=142793.html Sorry to go off topic man haha!
but that is typical for an in development game. Framerate isn't that big of a concern unless it seems like it can't be fixed.
Oh yeah of course I just remember reading an article way back when about Rare struggling to get it running how they wanted frame rate wise and I guess from the particle video they wanted to push the Xbox pretty hard. I think I remember ASSEMbler joking a few years ago the 360 version is essentially the Xbox version in HD haha. Kinda similar to what you found on the Kameo Xbox 1 version crazy how similar it was to the 360! Could be wrong about Perfect Dark Zero but would love to find out more! Rareware was definitely one of my favourite developers.
I cant remember any of the old articles at this point so it could be true hah. Have to keep believing that Ill get my hands on it anyway. Going to start editing the second BC video soon
Time flies that's why man Xbox 1 days seems so long ago now haha Fingers crossed one of us finds it one day at least! Going back on topic looking forward to seeing the next BC video!
They probably care right now. Given time they'll have too many fish to fry unless someone does something stupid like want to use this IP later. It's really not worth worrying about. Worst case is a C&D.
