Battle of the Ports - Ghosts'n Goblins is now on YouTube. The official high quality version will be arriving this week. Check back here for a link.
Me again to rip into how you missed xxxx versions out. How come you can never find working Atari ST images? It took me a whole 6 minutes to find a working one Ditto with R-Type. Look for... 1990elitecrt3st (copy link and working version..) That works on TOS 1.04 on Hatari... The game also exists on the NEC PC-8801 MK II http://www.pideo.net/video/nicovideo/c0761a46bfb55d98/ Capcom America did an frankly rubbish IBM PC (DOS) version http://www.abandonia.com/games/994 There is a ripped straight from a Spectrum MSX homebrew version of G&G http://www.amusementfactory.com.br/msx/gngoblins/?p=7&l=en Some websites report it exists on the NEC PC-6001 and Sharp X1 but I've not found any evidence for this. It has one entry here for the FM-7 version.. but it looks like the PC-8801 version... http://retropc.net/fm-7/museum/softhouse/ascii/000704200.html Oh you should know that it is the Commodore 16 version of GnG, which the plus 4 is compatable with and not the other way around as proper Plus 4 games do not work on the C16. Also no mention that Capcom Generations 2 also exists on the Sony Playstation, for shame. Also exists on Java Brew for mobiles but meh!
You guys wanted it so it's here. Battle of the Ports official site with YouTube streams and the original HD captures - http://www.segagagadomain.com/botp/botp-menu1.htm The site is a quite thrown together effort so it's pretty rough. It's fully functional mind you so it will do for now until I finish it.
Battle of the Ports Ghouls'n Ghosts is now on YouTube. The offocial site version will be coming in a few days. Another great video Yakumo. I do remember playing the Master System vesion a lot. Hated the slowdown. But yes, the Mega Drive version was already incredible back then.
Thanks guys. I have another video already in the works plus the next Retro Core is sitting here on my Hard Drive. I'll upload it next week some time.
Thanks Yakumo! Great show as usual. I am literally always checking Youtube and ASSEMBLERgames for any new uploads from you.
I watched the Ghosts'n Goblins one the other night. Nice footage, although I wish the commentary was spoken rather than text at the top. I realize that it's more work for you, but it would add a lot to the experience. As it is, I can't really pay attention to the game while I'm reading the text at the top. It's a lot easier when there's a voiceover. Those are just my thoughts. I'm looking forward to the 60fps Ghosts'n Ghouls version! I would just watch the YouTube version, but then I'd have to watch it twice, which would be a little excessive.
Official site version of BOTP Ghouls'n Ghosts is out now with the standard 30fps 720p download and a special 60fps 720p download which is what the videos are originally recorded in. http://www.segagagadomain.com/botp/botp-menu1.htm
Nice, I'll queue that up tomorrow, looking forward to the 60fps version! Got around to looking at the others before as well, really enjoying this series Yakumo. I'm with la-li-lu-le-lo, would be great to get your commentary on there, that's one of things I've always enjoyed about Retro Core as well!
Doing the commentary would be better in some cases but not in others. It would cover the audio plus it takes way longer to do than just typing. I'll think about it but I don't know. may just keep that for retro Core. talking of which, I'll be uploading the new retro Core over the weekend.
Just watched the Ghouls'n Ghosts episode. It was a good episode - the 60fps capture worked out nicely. The filesize was pretty big, but I think it was worth it. I might have to pick up some of those Capcom Generations Saturn games.
Would you like the 60fps download next time? It's what the videos are captured in so it's a 100% perfect version of the show.
Yes, I would like that. It definitely made a difference for the games that output at 60fps. The files are a little bigger, but I don't mind. I usually just start the download and then do something else while I'm waiting.
The 60fps version of the Final Fight Battle of the Ports show is now up for download at the official site along with the standard 30fps version. Both videos are in highest quality 720p http://www.segagagadomain.com/botp/botp-menu1.htm
