I never get tired of this series. Always nice to take a look back at arcade games and their ports. By the way, it's awesome the show is getting closer to the 200th episode!
I love this series. I saw that Snatcher vinyl video a little while back. Any plans to do a Snatcher battle of the ports?
Yep, only another 20 shows before I hit that magic 200 episodes! Wow, I never would have thought the show would hit 200 episodes and even after that I have enough games on the current list to hit 250 shows. Battle of the Ports is a show about arcade to home conversions rather than home system conversions. Once I've finished with the arcade stuff I will move on to the home stuff such as Snatcher.
A game many asked for and one I actually can't stand. It's Terminator 2: The Arcade game on this week's Battle of the Ports.
Wait, what?! I had no idea T2 - The Arcade Game had a Master System port! According to SMSpower, looks like it was an european only release. But not only that, it seems the Master System had four Terminator games! Terminator, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, T2: The Arcade Game and Robocop vs. Terminator. Ah, the era of licensed shovelware across all systems...
hahaha, shovel ware indeed. To be fair though, Master System Robocop VS Terminator is pretty impressive. It really shows off the systems power.
That's so true. Robocop VS Terminator is one of those games that really shows off the systems power. It even has some good speech from what I remember.
Last week we had Captain Commando so it seems only fitting that this week we take a look at Captain America and the Avengers by Data East.
Captain Commando was such a cool game in the arcades. Wasted a lot of money on it. Shame we don't have games like these anymore. To this day i'm surprised by the existence of the PS1 port, specially so late in the console's life. Wish i bought it when i first heard about it, prices now are ridiculous. Thankfully MAME exists. Captain America and the Avengers brings good memories as well. I really appreciated it's hand drawn style backgrounds and it was a cool 4 player game. Playing alone doesn't have the same feeling. And i totally agree, it's one of those really loud attract sounds just like Super Monaco GP and X-Men 6 player.
Johnny, you do like the games starting with Captain in the title but will you be a fan of next week's game? Yet another Arcade game begining with Captain
