the simpsons did get ported to dos, but never console, which is sad since i had a feeling it would have been a good conversion, but i belive it never happened due to acclaim having the console rights, still im shocked they didnt bother to strike a deal with them. Anotehr would also be the x-men game by konami, anyone remember the special big ass cabinest it had that used 2 screens? Man those were memories, and as mentioned sega did have a good amount of games that were arcade only, though i believe alot of it had to do with that fact that these games were mostly ment for the arcade, still many sites and magazines reported that sega was making a compilation disc for dreamcast that featured their reality arcade game that were emergency ambulence, jambo safari, and brave fire fighters which used the hikura board, like sega's episode one racer, though sega's version was damn good, it never got released for console due to the fact that lucas arts already released its own pod racing game before it came out(thus it would confuse people even if lucas arts allowed it since the dreamcast also got lucas arts pod racing game). But im also guessing due to the games looking very similar as well.As for outrun 2, it was mostly microsoft who made it possible for release since they put most of the money in the project in the release, as well as being the main publisher. Planet Harriers was considered for game cube, but the creator said that the team at the time was having a hard time considering it due to the fact that most people who played it considered it extremely hard, so im guessing the idea was quietly shelved.
Actually, this did get ported to a console or sort of It's one of the hidden games in Ganbare Goemon 2 or 3. You can only play a level or tow from the original though. My best game that should have been ported to a console would have to be Scud Racer ! That should have been a DC launch title instead of Sega Rally 2 which turned out to be a bit poo. Also dayton 2 should have been ported instead of Daytona 2001 or what ever it was called. Yakumo
Total agreement there. Sega Rally 2 could not hold a fucking candle to the original game, Saturn or arcade version. Why so many DC fanboys continue to ooh and ahh over the horribly broken slides and mechanics of Sega Rally2 I'll never figure out to this day.
lol this may just be rosey memories.....: The New Zeland Story - Amiga 500 EDIT - just realised that we are in the arcade forum (and i didnt read the topic properly)...... hmmm... tough one
I assume you're talking about the one that supports up to 8 players? Back in like 4th grade I was at a friend's birthday party with a bunch of my boys. They were off doing there own thing, while me and one of my friends started playing X-Men. One by one they came over and started joining in until we had the whole thing filled up. The guy working there came over, opened the coin slot and pushed the little lever down to give us around 40 credits. I think we beat the game. Damn those were some good times. Sorry guys I went off on a tangent there
its in ganbare goemon 2 for sfc. not a very good port, though. i can provide a savestate if anyone wants to try it out. seconded. batrider on a home system wouldve been cool, too.
Scud Race would be my number one choice. I've debated buying the arcade machine MANY times. My second would be S.T.U.N. Runner (and no the Lynx version doesn't count). Thankfully the latter will soon be home on Midway Arcade Treasures 3. Can't wait! -hl718
I think I´ll go for scud racer and daytona usa 2 battle on the edge. and..... jurassic park the lost world.. :O what a nice lightgun game that is!
Konami's Aliens side-scrolling beat 'em up. That beat the 8-player X-Men in my book. Planet Harriers was also quite fantastic and I wasted a ton of money on Jambo Safari.
alien vs predator terminator 2(gun game) probably a lot of the good gun games never got a console release(the exception to this is time crisis series)
just get mame32 emulator pc video card with s-video or component video or hd tv with vga in and 4 control pad and you ready to play old 2d arcade
Pang was eventually released for SFC or PSX, I don't recall. It's called Pang Mega Collection or something like that... I think Planet Harriers is a great choice for the "never released in a console". The Simpsons arcade I also think fits. Was atari's STUN runner released somewhere other than the LYNX? If not, does the LYNX count as a console?
